Hue City (Thua Thien-Hue province) has became the 7th City of Vietnam and the 32nd in the world to participate in the Plastic Smart Cities Programme.

A Luoi (Thua Thien-Hue province) - the first mountainous district of Vietnam committed to participate in Plastic Smart Cities Program of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Launching the National Plastic Action Partnership, Vietnam is among the first three countries in the world, together with Indonesia and Ghana, to apply a special model promoting action to reduce plastic waste.

Following four other areas including Phu Quoc island, Phu Yen province, Thanh Khe district (Da Nang city) and Tan An city, Rach Gia city's local authorities signed the Declaration of Intend to commit to become the fifth Plastic Smart Cities model in Vietnam.

On the occasion of World Oceans Day, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands (VASI), and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment have launched two projects to tackle waste and plastic pollution.
