The First Ever Vietnam Painting Exhibition Held in Mongolia

As its name suggests, the Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia, Asia Art Link and the artists hope to send to Mongolian friends a tropical wind with the scent of lotus, friendly Vietnamese people, rich in tradition and always strive to develop cooperation with friends around the world.

A painting exhibition has been held at the Mongol Art Gallery in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar as part of activities to mark the 70th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (1954-2024), VNA reported.

On display were more than 50 paintings and graphic works by 16 Vietnamese artists from Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Ho Chi Minh City, in addition to two paintings done by a Mongolian volunteer-artist.

The exhibition, jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia and Asia Art Link Vietnam, was to introduce Mongolian audiences to the contemporary Vietnamese art scene, helping them to gain greater insights into the beautiful Vietnamese landscapes, culture, and its friendly people, according to Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV).

Attending the opening ceremony were representatives of Mongolian Government agencies such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Justice & Interior, Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions and international organisations in Mongolia, the Mongolia-Vietnam Friendship Association, artists and experts in the art world of Mongolia, together with the organising committee are the Vietnamese Artists Union, the Embassy of Vietnam in Mongolia and some volunteers who are Mongolian artist who graduated in painting and fine arts in Vietnam, representing the Vietnamese community in the host country.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam emphasized that the event marks the first time that a painting exhibition depicting Vietnamese art and culture has been held in Ulaanbaatar - the capital of Mongolia.

He expressed his belief that the exhibition will help to further intensify art exchanges between the two countries in the near future.

The works in the exhibition have many styles, from realism, expressionism to abstraction; Natural landscape themes, people, portraits, still lifes, with materials of oil painting, acrylic on canvas, pastels, watercolor, on paper, on silk, woodblock printing on paper.

The members of Asia Art Link Vietnam attending this time include generations of artists who have participated in many national and international exhibitions, composing in many styles; there are artists who have created many unique artistic imprints in the country and the region.

In addition to the works prepared by artists from within the country, this exhibition also displays artworks that describe their feelings about their experiences in the beautiful country of Mongolia and ordered by the organizing committee titled "Beauty of Mongolia through the eyes of Vietnamese artists".

Painter Trinh Tuan from Asia Art Link Vietnam underscored the significance of the event in terms of elevating the images, art, culture, and people of Vietnam to the wider world.

It has also contributed to enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples and deepening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, he added.

In addition to art and painting works, at the opening ceremony, there were also a special musical performances performed by the artists in the troupe, such as a piano solo by young musician Trinh Nhat Anh with a gentle and deep piece of music composed by herself; Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam's performance through the famous Mongolian song "Meeting mother in a dream - Алсад суугаа ээжий".
