The Hidden Beauty Of Vu Quang National Park
A remote, north-central haven for Vietnam’s rare bovine species, Vu Quang is one of the country’s least explored national parks. Nestled along the border with Laos, it is frequently bypassed by travelers. Unbeknownst to many, most glimpses of the park come from the window of an airplane or train while traveling to other destinations.
Vu Quang National Park is considered the "green pearl" of Ha Tinh, a place possessing rich natural resources and unique landscapes. Moreover, this destination also has a strong mark on the country's history from the feudal years.

Vu Quang National Park, also known as Vu Quang, is located in Vu Quang district, Ha Tinh. This place was only established in 2002 and is a new name for tourists from other countries. However, it is always a familiar choice for local people on summer picnics and trekking trips.
Secluded and remote, the majority of the park consists of lowland forest ecosystems. Ha Tinh City is the closest large-sized urban area to the national park, and it will take about one hour to drive from the central city.
There are also a few villages established just outside of the national park, with Nga Phuc Dong being among the most popular to visit. The remote location of Vu Quang National Park has its own set of pros and cons, with the biggest issue being its lack of accessibility.

Vu Quang owns more than 76% of the natural forest area with high biodiversity with majestic natural landscape, making it a new tourism potential for Ha Tinh. This is a place for those who love adventure and like to explore the mysteries of the forest.
The ideal time for a journey to explore Vu Quang is from April to October. The weather is very nice during this time of the year, which is suitable for picnics and trekking activities to explore and experience the place. Researchers and park officials are constantly looking for ways to improve the park, and with new species found every year, visitors will see first-hand the success of Vietnam’s conservation programs.

Vu Quang National Park possesses an extremely rich flora and fauna. According to statistics, there are more than 1,829 species of higher plants. There are about 94 species of mammals, 58 species of reptiles, 315 species of birds, 31 species of amphibians, 316 species of butterflies, 88 species of bony fish, 73 species of ants, and 28 species of spiders.
Aside from the rich flora and fauna, the ecological forest also possesses beautiful landscapes, with many magnificent waterfalls and mysterious trails. This is a destination that attracts a large number of tourists and scientific researchers to visit and learn. Long-distance travelers, who set foot in Vu Quang National Park, will definitely love the peaceful scenery and fresh atmosphere.
In the national park area, there are almost no accommodation services or restaurants. Visitors should bring their own water and food for their trips.

Limited facilities in the park are provided, however, guests can arrange to take a boat ride through some of the area’s lakes or rivers. Boat cruises can be arranged with the assistance of a tour guide or they may be included in a pre-booked touring itinerary of the park.
Being difficult to access and having remote trails means that exploring this park alone is not ideal. The easiest way to see Vu Quang, especially if people are on a tight time schedule, is to hire a guide. Local guides can assist tourists with transportation, bring them to specific highlights, arrange boat tours, lead their hikes, and help them exit the park.
