Thua Thien Hue Border Guards Launches New Year Tree Planting Festival

Following the teachings of President Ho Chi Minh and the Prime Minister's call to plant one billion trees, on January 29, the Thua Thien Hue provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the the organizer of the launching ceremony of the tree planting festival "Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho" in the spring of 2023.

At the launching ceremony, Colonel Dang Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard called on officers, soldiers and youth union members to promote their sense of responsibility and determination, actively participate in afforestation and forest protection; raise awareness of each cadre, soldier, youth union member, making them want to participate in the conservation of forests, in order to contribute to building green, clean and beautiful barracks. This action helps protect the environment in border areas.

After that, more than 1,000 border guard officers, soldiers and Youth Union members of Thua Thien Hue province planted more than 3,000 poplar trees (cassava) to block sand and prevent erosion on the coast of Vinh Thanh commune, Phu district.
Also at the launching ceremony, the Provincial Border Guard Command and units presented a youth flower road to Vinh Xuan Border Guard Station; giving 20 gifts to policy beneficiary households, families with difficult circumstances in Vinh Thanh commune and five gift packages to needy students.

According to the 2023 target, units in the Border Guard of Thua Thien Hue province will plant 64,000 trees, symbolizing the 64 years of the Border Guard's traditional day, in the barracks and border areas. In particular, they will focus on selecting suitable trees of good quality, suitable to the actual conditions in each unit, each area to organize planting, care and protection of trees in accordance with the technical process, high efficiency. |
The Ministry of National Defence launched the New Year tree planting festival at the Hanoi-based Vietnam Military History Museum on January 30, VNA reported.
The activity was in response to the 64th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s appeal for New Year tree planting, the 93rd anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lunar New Year festival.
Vice Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence Gen. Phan Van Giang expressed his belief that the whole army will fulfil the goal of planting around 3.2 million trees and over 2,000ha of forests this year, toward successfully realizing the “For a Green Vietnam” programme launched by the PM to plant one billion trees.
