Top Lao Legislator Applauds Vietnam-Laos Friendly Bonds
Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Xaysomphone Phomvihane appreciated the achievements of the two Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Friendship Associations in recent years, while receiving a delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in Hanoi on Dec. 7.

A delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association led by its President Tran Van Tuy, paid a courtesy visit to Xaysomphone Phomvihane, Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and Chairman of the National Assembly, who are on a Vietnam visit from Dec. 6-8.
Accompanying the delegation was Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations.
On behalf of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association at all levels, Tuy expressed his gratitude to Lao National Assembly Chairman Xaysomphone Phomvihane for meeting the group.
Tuy congratulated the Lao Party, State and people on the occasion of the 46th National Day of Laos (Dec. 2), the great and comprehensive achievements that the Lao people have achieved in the past 46 years, especially the good success of the 11th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party. Congratulations to Saysomphone Phomvihane on being elected as President of the ninth Lao National Assembly.
Tuy appreciated and thanked Saysomphone for choosing Vietnam as the first country to visit in his capacity as President of the Lao National Assembly, showing that the Lao Party, National Assembly and Saysomphone have attached importance to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries; expressed his belief that this visit will create a solid political foundation and further promote the two countries' relations.
Association President Tran Van Tuy voiced his concern about the situation of Covid-19 pandemic in Laos; at the same time, he appreciated the efforts of the Lao Party, State and people in responding to Covid-19, expressing his belief that, under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the people Laos will control, overcome the pandemic, continue to develop.
Despite suffering the impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic, closer cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies have been maintained and increasingly practical in recent times. Vietnam was the first to send a special flight transporting medical equipment and senior experts to help Laos combat the second wave of the Covid-19. The Party, NA, Government, local administrations, and the Vietnamese people had supported and helped Laos with medical equipment worth more than US$ 6.3 million, thereby making an important contribution to pandemic prevention and control in the neighbouring country. In 2020, despite facing plenty of difficulties, the nation donated more than VND 930 billion to Laos as a means of helping them to boost socio-economic development locally. During a banquet for Lao high-ranking delegation on Dec. 6, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung has presented VND 5 billion (USD 217,000) in support of Laos’ fight against the pandemic. |

Tuy emphasized that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, laid the foundation by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Cayson Phomvihan and Xuphanuvong, cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, forged through many trials, and forged by the efforts and blood of many generations of Vietnamese people and Laos, which has become an exemplary, loyal, pure and rare relationship in the history of international relations, is an invaluable common property of the two peoples.
He affirmed that the Vietnamese people will forever remember and cherish the valuable help of the Lao people for the Vietnamese people in the cause of struggle for national liberation and defense. "We always consider preserving and developing the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos as our responsibility and also an order from our hearts," Tuy stressed.
