Traffic accident in the first 6 months dropped sharply
Speaking at the online conference of traffic safety in the first 6 months of the year with localities taking place in the morning of July 1, Standing Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) Truong Hoa Binh emphasized: in the first 6 months of the year countries join hands to prevent epidemics, implement social gap, especially in March and April, so the traffic density is not high.
The first 6 months of the year is also the time to implement Decree No. 100/2019 on sanctioning administrative violations in the field of road and rail transport and Decree No. 10/2020 on business and transport business conditions, so traffic safety has positive changes, traffic accidents reduce in all 3 criteria on the number of cases, the number of deaths and the injured.

In addition, the strict control of the traffic police force, resolutely handling violations combined with propaganda make the alcohol violation decrease sharply, the sanction level was enough to deter.
"Thanks to the participation of the whole political system, traffic safety has made good changes. The implementation of the two Decrees is a bright spot in the Government's guidance in the first 6 months," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
However, Deputy Prime Minister said that traffic safety is still complicated, there are many particularly serious accidents that kill many people and cause concern for the people, which we can not rest assured. For example, the traffic accidents in Dak Lak on June 13 and Quang Ninh on June 17. In addition, carrying violations still occur in many places, traffic congestion in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have not been solved and tend to increase. Facing that situation, the Deputy Prime Minister requested to assess the true situation, existence, limitations and causes, thereby proposing practical and feasible solutions to continue reducing traffic accidents in the coming time.

Reporting at the conference, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, Vice President in charge of the National Traffic Safety Committee, said that in the first 6 months of 2020, it has been the deepest decline in many years in terms of cases, deaths and injuries compared to with the same period (the highest reduction in the number of deaths from traffic accidents in recent years with a reduction of nearly 15%).
Specifically, in the first 6 months (from December 15, 2019 to June 14, 2020), nearly 6,800 accidents occurred nationwide, killing over 3,200 people and injuring nearly 5,000 people. Compared to the same period, the number of traffic accidents decreased by nearly 1,600, the number of deaths fell by 568, the number of injured people fell by over 1,400.

Regarding the reflection of the quality of driving tests and vehicles that are overdue for registration, Minister Nguyen Van The said he will direct the General Department of Roads and relevant agencies to open an unexpected general inspection, strictly handle violating registry stations and training centers.
