Quito is one of five founding cities of the Global Key Program on Safe Cities and Public Spaces in 2011. Until now, 56 cities in 31 countries have participated. On November 20, Da Nang became the 56th city on this list.
This is a significant result because this forum helps a city access knowledge, and technical support, so it can connect with a network of cities participating in the program. It also prevents violence against women and children, develops safe public spaces, and contributes to bringing practical benefits to sustainable development.
At the forum, delegates discussed issues of strengthening the participation of multi-sectoral stakeholders, tools, and lessons to prevent sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence against women in public, along with policies to implement safe cities and spaces programs.

President of the Da Nang Women's Union Hoang Thi Thu Huong shared about the policies that Da Nang effectively implements. Da Nang has had 21 clubs of "Men pioneers in preventing and responding to violence against women and children" in different districts. The “Orange - Light Up and Take Action" Program has spread Da Nang's commitment to gender equality and safety for women and children.
