HueFO to organize workshop to promote Vietnam - Thailand cooperation post Covid-19

On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (August 6, 1976 – August 6, 2021), the Union of Friendship Organizations of Thua Thien Hue Province (HueFO) coordinated with the Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association will hold a scientific conference themed "Promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in the fields of tourism - trade - culture - education in the post-Covid-19 period" on Dec. 20.

The workshop aimed to seek out possible directions and solutions to cultivate and promote cooperation relations between the two countries in the fields of tourism, trade, culture, education in the coming time post-Covid-19 era.

The event for scholars studying international relations; diplomats, full-time officials operating in the fields of tourism, commerce, culture and education; HueFO's Thai partner companies, units and agencies and the Vietnam - Thai Friendship Association; lecturers, officials and students of universities and research institutes throughout the country have passion and research in the field of foreign affairs in general and people's diplomacy in particular.

The seminar will focus on the following topics: Vietnamese - Thai cultural exchange through Buddhist practice activities; Educational cooperation between Hue University and Thai universities; Opportunities, challenges and initiatives and solutions in promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in the field of tourism and trade; The role of friendship organizations and overseas Vietnamese in promoting cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in the fields of tourism - trade - culture - education in the post-Covid period.

The conference's research results will be the papers that will be published in the proceedings which are the basis for the Organizing Committee to propose recommendations to policy-making agencies, state management agencies, specialized units and related parties in order to further promote the development of Vietnam-Thailand relations in particular, promoting Vietnam's international cooperation and integration in general.

Besides, the conference is also an opportunity for scientists, researchers and practitioners in Thua Thien - Hue as well as in the whole country to connect, exchange, create learning network and share local information.

HUFO, Indian Consulate General discuss activities celebrating 50 years of ties

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) on Nov. 17 held a discussion with the Consul-General of India in the City, Madan Mohan Sethi.

At the meeting, Do Viet Ha, HUFO president congratulated Consul-General Sethi and the staff of the Consulate General of India on their successful relocation to the new facility.

Ha subsequently offered a number of suggestions on friendship activities between Vietnam and India in the near future, among which were the organization of the Vietnam - India Friendship and Culture Week, the seminar on "The Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and India from an educational and economic perspective", the exhibition of pictures, photographs on the traditional friendship between the two nations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (January 7,1972 - January 7, 2022)

Among the idea related to the development of human resource for HCM City, Consul-General Madan Mohan Sethi offered suggestions on the hosting of the "Indian Education Exposition", with the purpose of promoting high-quality educational experiences in areas that India is prominent in medicine, pharmaceutical, education, information technology, to students and young intellectuals in Vietnam, expanding the scope of educational and training cooperation between the two nations and through which, augment the high-quality human resource not only for HCM City but also for Vietnam in the future.

On his part, the HUFO president expressed his agreement with the ideas of the Consul-Generals and promised to push for further connections between Indian educational institutions and Vietnamese high schools and universities.

Ben Tre Friendship Union, provincial Buddhist Sangha build charity houses for poor households

Last week, the Union of Friendship Organizations of Ben Tre province in collaboration with the Provincial Liaison Committee for Overseas Vietnamese together with the local government presented three houses to poor households in the province.

The new houses are hoped would help three families to overcome difficulties and improve their lives.

Attending the house handover ceremony were Truong Minh Nhut, President of the Provincial Friendship Union; Le Thanh Trang, Head of Liaison Committee of overseas Vietnamese; Vo Thi Xuan Mai, deputy head of Liaison Committee of overseas Vietnamese; Ho Van Tan, representative of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Chau Thanh district and local authorities at all levels, along with the representative of the sponsor, Venerable Thich Tri Hue.

The attention and support of local authorities at all levels and the sponsors have helped three poor and difficult households in the communes of Quoi Thanh, Quoi Son, and An Khanh in Chau Thanh district. On the handover day, not only helping households have a decent home, local authorities and sponsors also gave gifts, household items and some cash for three families.

With the desire to contribute to supporting the hospital with adequate equipment to promptly examine and treat Covid-19 patients. The Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and the Ben Tre Provincial Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients also have campaigned, connected and proposed with ActionAid International in Vietnam to sponsor 503 hand-held oxygen meters for Ben Tre province.

The Provincial Friendship Union and Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients have handed over the equipments to the Health Department in a ceremony on Nov. 12.

The provincial Union of Friendship Organizations coordinated with relevant authorities to promptly distribute medical equipment and supplies in support of pandemic prevention and control.

Gia Lai Friendship Union and Union of Science and Technology Associations cooperate in people's foreign affairs

Recently, Gia Lai Union of Friendship Organizations and Union of Science and Technology Associations of Gia Lai province held a signing ceremony of the regulation on cooperation in people-to-people diplomacy.

According to the regulations, the two sides will coordinate in the mobilization of foreign non-governmental aid (NGO); overseas Vietnamese-related work.

Regarding aid mobilization, the two sides cooperated in effectively mobilizing and exploiting resources, aid and cooperation of NGOs, foreign organizations and individuals, and people's organizations, contributing to promoting cooperation between the people of Gia Lai and the people of other countries, contributing to the province's socio-economic development, funding poverty reduction programs and emergency relief programs.

Regarding the overseas Vietnamese work, the provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations is responsible for coordinating in mobilizing and connecting the overseas Vietnamese community and the homeland, contributing to the development of the country and Gia Lai province.
