At the meeting between the Vietnamese General Consulate in Fukuoka and the Association of Vietnamese in the city.

The event is the joint effort of the Vietnamese General Consulate in Fukuoka and the Association of Vietnamese in the city for the overseas Vietnamese community on the occasion of the Tet holiday.

As planned, the traditional cultural space of Vietnamese Tet will be recreated at Tenjin park, allowing the overseas Vietnamese community to get a feeling of the home country through musical performances, Vietnamese signature dishes and folk games.

Several popular artists and singers in Vietnam will be invited to the event, which is expected to draw more than 1,000 visitors, both Vietnamese and Japanese.

The event aims to connect over 33,000 Vietnamese currently living in Kyushu and promote Vietnam’s traditional Tet celebration such as Vietnamese culinary delights and culture to participating Japanese friends and foreigners in the country.

Tet (Lunar New Year Festival) is the most important and biggest holiday in Vietnam. It is traditionally an occasion for family reunion, and most people will try to return to the home village for the celebration.

2019 marks the last one of the circle, which is The Pig. Therefore, 2020 is the year of the Rat. The mouse is the animal head of the twelve animals, symbolizing witty, creative, and curious personality traits.

Holidays for Tet 2020 will start from Thursday, January 23, 2020 (or the 29th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Pig) to the end of Wednesday, January 29, 2020 (or the fifth day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Rat)./.
