Nhung Kate - "The Continental"

CNN recently reviewed a highly anticipated series - “The Continental”. Set in the 1970s, the three-part project (the time commitment that suggests is a bit misleading since each chapter runs well over an hour) recreated the mood of a gritty, shadowy New York during the disco years.

It focuses on the history of “The Continental” - the hotel haven for assassins to tell the mysterious story of the global mafia world that appeared in the hitman flick "John Wick".

"The highest hurdle likely involves the plot, the evil organization known as the High Table, and hotel proprietor Winston Scott (Ian McShane in the movies), played here by Colin Woodell," CNN wrote.

Movie lovers have great expectations for "The Continental," yet the review concluded that it only has a handful of intriguing characters. Unfortunately, they don’t amass enough screen time to stoke much demand for an origin story.

"Indeed, there’s not much sense the wider Wick “world” holds that much fascination, and while the show does produce some intriguing characters – perhaps the best being Yen (Nhung Kate), whose first impulse in almost every dangerous situation is to punch her way out of it –" said CNN's movie critic Brian Lowry.

Ngo Thanh Van - "The Creator"

"The Creator" just hit cinemas worldwide at the end of September. According to Gateway Film Center, as a future war between the human race and artificial intelligence rages on, ex-special forces agent Joshua (played by John David Washington) is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI. The Creator has developed a mysterious weapon that has the power to end the war and all of mankind. As Joshua and his team of elite operatives venture into enemy-occupied territory, they soon discover the world-ending weapon is actually an AI in the form of a young child.

A number of Hollywood talents participated in making this ambitious project, including John David Washington who played the protagonist Joshua, and British-Chinese actress Gemma Chan acting as Joshua's wife. Vietnamese movie star Ngo Thanh Van played "Kami" in the movie. Acting alongside impressive CGI, Ngo Thanh Van brought her AI robot character to life in a brief yet powerful scene.

Ngo Thanh Van has also finished filming the movie "The Old Guard 2" starring Hollywood stars like Charlize Theron and KiKi Layne. In this upcoming Gina Prince-Bythewood movie, the immoral warrior Quynh - Van's character - fights alongside with the protagonist "Andy" and then later turns to her enemy who seeks bloody revenge.

Truong Ngoc Anh - "Abduction"

Veteran actress Truong Ngoc Anh has an impressive discography of domestic action movies like "Huong Ga - Rise"(2014) and "Tracer" (2016). In 2018, she starred in the Ernie Barbarash movie "Abduction" (originally named" "Twilight Zodiac") as a smart doctor with secrecy intentions who always appears at the crucial moments of the plot. Many scenes in "Abduction" were set in Ho Chi Minh City

Not only starring in the movie, Truong Ngoc Anh also played an important role as the movie producer. Truong Ngoc Anh revealed that both her roles allowed her to gain more understanding of the position of the Vietnamese film industry in the global market. She believed that in terms of acting skills, Vietnamese actors could compete with foreign actors. But in popularity with the international audiences, there are still many shortcomings.

With the star's performance in both roles, the fans were more curious about her latest project - "Dark Asset". It is yet another action movie with American director Michael Winnick, starring Bryon Mann, Robert Patrick, and Helena Mattsson.
