On September 15, in Japan, two football tournaments were held simultaneously for the Vietnamese community in both the South and North of Japan. They are meaningful fund-raising event for helping those who affected by Yagi.

Vietnamese Festival Helps Tighten Friendship with Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture

This tournament is organized by the Vietnam - Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) with the support of the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka. It attracted 32 teams of non-professional Vietnamese footballers in the Chubu region and Kyushu region of Japan.

Many Vietnamese and Japanese audiences joined the event, sharing sincere and deep feelings for the great loss of the people in the northern provinces of Vietnam.

Donors can donate directly at the stadium and to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, with the information provided by the Organizing Committee. Some winning teams also donated by givng all their prizes back to the Organizing Committee

At the FAVIJA CHUBU CUP tournament held in Fukuroi city, Shizuoka province, a total of JPY 189,000 in cash (equivalent to VND 33 million) was raised. At the FAVIJA KYUSHU CUP held in Kitakyushu city, Fukuoka prefecture, a total of JPY 157,500 Yen in cash (equivalent to VND 27 million) was raised.

FAVIJA will collect contributions from badminton and karate tournaments, and member associations and donate through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese - Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 18.

Vu Chi Mai - Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, Japan stressed that sports activities play an important role in building and strengthening community relations. Thanks to football, people can show their talents and passion, and connect to build solidarity in the community, she said.

FAVIJA has organized many sports tournaments, all over Japan, especially community connection events like today's football tournament. The tournament is not only about matches on the field, connecting and uniting, but also about raising funds to support our compatriots in overcoming the consequences of Yagi. It also sends a message about humanity, compassion and empathy, which is a tradition of the Vietnamese people. Solidarity and compassion are the greatest sources of encouragement to help our compatriots in the country overcome difficulties and rebuild their lives,” Mai exclaimed.

The teams gave it their all and the end of the tournament, the FAVIJA CHUBU CUP championship belonged to FC T-Connect. FC Nghe Tinh Shizuoka won the runner-up prize while FC Thanh Hoa and FC Kakegawa both won the second runner-up prize.

The best player award went to player Dao Xuan Ngu - FC T-Connect, the top scorer award went to player Nguyen Ngoc Bao - FC Thanh Hoa and the best goalkeeper award went to player Hoang Van Nhat - FC Nghe Tinh Shizuoka.

At the FAVIJA KYUSHU CUP, the champion was FC Ha Tinh. The runner-up was FC Nghe An. FC Bac Giang and FC Nghe Tinh Fukuoka shared the second runner-up title.

The organizing committee also awarded individual prizes to player Ngo Duc Hoang and the top scorer prize to player Pham Van Bac, both from FC Ha Tinh Fukuoka.

Nguyen Quang Phap - FC Nghe An won the best goalkeeper title.

FAVIJA Chairman Do Quang Ba said that the winning teams will also win tickets to attend the national Vietnamese football tournament in Japan, which will be held at the end of November in Tokyo.
