Vietnam is currently ranked 10th in the list of 10 countries with the largest number of 5G smartphones in the world, according to the latest report of Speedtest (of Ookla) that has just been published.

The company did not provide specific machine numbers for each country but noted that the results were obtained in the third quarter of 2022 (from July to September). At that time, many smartphones with 5G such as Apple iPhone 14 series, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, and Google Pixel 7 were not listed in some markets. Therefore, the ranking may change at the end of the fourth quarter.

The top 10 countries with the most 5G phones in the third quarter are ranked in the order of the US, China, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, South Africa, UK, and Vietnam.

Regarding mobile devices, Galaxy S22 Ultra ranked first in the Top 5 fastest 5G smartphones in Vietnam at the time of the survey with upload/download speeds of 41.34 Mbps and 286.77 Mbps, respectively. The next 4 positions belong to Apple with the iPhone 12 series (speeds of 36.88 Mbps and 278.32 Mbps), iPhone 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, and 13 (regular version).

China is a special case because no iPhone model is in the Top 5 fastest 5G phones in a market of billions of people. In this country, the OnePlus 9 5G is the top smartphone on the list and the next 4 rankings belong to Huawei. Meanwhile, in the UK, all 5 models on the list are smartphones made by Apple.

Although Vietnam is in the Top 10 countries with many 5G smartphones, we have not commercialized this network technology. Currently, only some domestic users and in certain locations can use the 5G network, the rest still use 4G connections on their mobile devices to access the internet.
