According to a recent survey by the market research company DataReportal (Singapore), among the 10 countries with the largest number of Facebook, TikTok and Youtube users in the world. Vietnam ranked 6th, 7th and 9th place respectively.

DataReportal reported that by the end of May 2023, Facebook has 2.99 billion users, making it the social network with the largest number of followers globally. India is currently the country with the largest number of Facebook users in the world with about 314.6 million people. The next positions are the US and Indonesia with 175 million and 119.9 million users, respectively. Vietnam is also in the top 10 countries, ranking 6th place with 66.2 million Facebook users.

Facebook's influence on commerce in Vietnam extends beyond the online world, accordig to Thach Huynh of Decision Lab. In particular, features and products native to Facebook such as Facebook groups, Facebook Marketplace, and Facebook Advertising are frequently used by Vietnamese consumers to discover new products. This is the results rendered from a Decision Lab survey of 1835 Vietnamese respondents in 2021.

As of May 2023, TikTok has more than 1.1 billion users over 18 years old, reported from the latest statistics of DataReportal, making this application the 6th largest social network in terms of regular users, after Facebook, Youtube, WhatsApp or Instagram.

Despite being controversial and at risk of being banned, the US is still the country with the largest number of TikTok users in the world with more than 116.5 million people.

Indonesia ranks second in the world in terms of TikTok users with 113 million followers, while Brazil ranks third with 84.1 million accounts.

Vietnam is also in the top 10 countries with the most TikTok users with 50.6 million people - ranked 6th.

Previously, India used to be one of the countries with the largest number of TikTok users in the world. However, since January 2021, the country has issued a ban on TikTok and a series of Chinese apps because of privacy and security concerns. As a result, TikTok has lost a large number of users from India.

Youtube is the second largest social network in the world, with more than 2.5 billion regular users. Vietnam currently has about 63 million YouTube users - thereby ranking 9th in the top 10 countries with the most frequent users of this streaming/social media platform.

With TikTok, competition for video views on mobile devices has intensified in Vietnam during the pandemic. YouTube is still the number one destination for music and entertainment videos overall, but TikTok's success in capturing the short video segment has driven new entrants from the big players. The DataReportal survey result also shows that many Internet users in Vietnam regularly use YouTube as a tool for entertainment, watching movies, listening to music or updating news.

Number one on the list of countries with the most YouTube followers is, again, India, with 467 million users. Other world famous social networks such as Instagram, WhatsApp or Twitter are not popular among Vietnamese net citizens.
