On April 5, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Vietnam, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on Vocational Training Cooperation between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland took place. Attending the signing ceremony was Graham Stuart, the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy who is on a business trip to Vietnam.

The Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in vocational training between Vietnam and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will create a legal framework for bilateral cooperation between the two countries. It also contributes to the goal of developing vocational training in Vietnam.

The contents of the Memorandum of Understanding include: sharing expertise on vocation training; support the development of sustainable vocation training policies; sharing experiences on improving the quality of vocation training, increasing the participation of enterprises to ensure the supply and demand of the industry.

It also includes cooperation to improve governance, leadership, teaching and capacity assessment at vocation training institutions; strengthen digital technology in online training; improve the institutional framework for vocation training; deploy appropriate language programs in vocation training.

The above cooperation contents are in line withVietnam's strategy to enhance the country's vocational training in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045. The Memorandum of Understanding will strengthen cooperation in vocational training, contributing to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Vietnam's strategy to enhance the country's vocational training in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045 aims to meet the diverse demands of the labor market and the higher requirements in human resources qualifications for national growth in the new period.

Under the project, in 2025, the scale and structure of the sector are expected to meet the demand for socio-economic recovery and development, with some training facilities meeting the standards of top ASEAN countries.

Vietnam will focus on boosting the quality and efficiency of vocational training to meet the demand for skilled laborers for modern industrial production by 2030, while actively engaging in the international human resources training market.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung appreciated the support from the UK in recent years, especially in vocational training, through the British Council.

Cooperation activities include: short-term training courses to improve the quality of teachers on business knowledge and starting a business; capacity-based vocational training methods; specialized English training for key international and ASEAN vocational teachers; building and developing a quality assurance system at 21 colleges; training linkages between Vietnamese and British vocational training institutions.

The two sides also shared information on a number of cooperation activities related to supporting victims of human trafficking, care and protection of children.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung and his British counterpart agreed that the two sides need to strengthen the cooperation in vocational training, contributing to human resource development in Vietnam.
