Vietnam records 26,487 new Covid-19 cases on February 11
The Health Ministry confirmed the detection of 26,487 Covid-19 cases on February 11, an increase of 448 cases compared to the previous day, pushing the national infection tally since the start of the pandemic to over 2.45 million cases.
Hanoi remains the locality recording the highest number of infections with 2,908 cases, followed by Nghe An with 1,501 and Hai Duong with 1,447. Among the latest infections, a total of 8,768 fresh infections were detected within the community.
The Health Ministry also confirmed a further 6,075 recoveries on the same day, thereby bringing the total number of recovered cases so far up to 2,212,669.

Karaoke parlors, dance clubs to reopen in Quang Ninh's Ha Long city from Feb 16
Karaoke parlors and dance clubs will reopen in Ha Long city, the northern province of Quang Ninh, at noon on February 16 after a 10-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Other services including massage parlors, bars, and internet shops in the city will also be allowed to resume the same day, on the condition of satisfying pandemic prevention and control regulations.
Nguyen Ngoc Son, vice chairman of the city's People’s Committee, said the municipal administration will issue a document detailing the requirements for pandemic prevention, adding that inspections will be conducted regularly and all violations will be strictly dealt with.
An owner of a karaoke parlor on Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long city said he was glad at the city's decision to end the longest ever closure of business since the pandemic started. He expressed his hope that other business activities will also be resumed in the safe and flexible adaption to the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that many establishments had either closed due to losses or changed their business models.

Hanoi releases tourism recovery roadmap for 2022 – 2023
Hanoi will focus on serving domestic visitors with Covid-19 preventive rules remaining in place during the first stage of its tourism recovery roadmap from 2022 – 2023, recently released by the municipal People’s Committee.
According to the roadmap, the first stage runs throughout the first half of 2022. During this stage, the scale of all tourism activities must be decided based on the level of Covid-19 risk in certain areas. The city is viewing the domestic market as the main driver of growth and recovery.
All restrictions are expected to be lifted in the second phase in the third quarter of the year. Hanoi will welcome back foreign tourists in accordance with the government’s border reopening roadmap. The city plans to pay heed to major markets with relatively high vaccine coverage and effective virus control, once foreign tourists are allowed to re-enter Vietnam.
The local tourism department is requested to build uniform guidelines and regulations on tourism activities and implement measures to boost the sustainable development of the industry in Hanoi.

Bamboo Airways begins ticket sales for flights to Australia, Europe, Singapore
Bamboo Airways has started selling tickets for flights from Hanoi and HCMC to Australia, Germany, the U.K., and Singapore. The first HCMC-Melbourne flight is scheduled on February 19 with a one-way economy class ticket costing $160-180.
On February 25 the first flight to Germany's Frankfurt will leave Hanoi and the fare is $180-339. The Hanoi-London service resumes on March 22, and the HCMC-Singapore service on March 24.
Since January 1, when the government allowed the resumption of commercial flights, the carrier has been operating regular services from Hanoi and HCMC to South Korea's Seoul, Japan's Tokyo and Taiwan's Taipei at a frequency of one to two a week. Vietnam had grounded all regular international flights since March 2020. On Jan. 1 flights also resumed to Bangkok, Phnom Penh, San Francisco, and Singapore.
During the latest wave that hit the country in late April, more than 2.45 million cases have been confirmed and over 2.2 million of them have since recovered. The nation’s Covid-19 death toll now stands at 38,784, or 1.6% of total cases following the confirmation of 96 fatalities over the past 24 hours. The average number of new cases in the country over the past seven days has been more than 20,000 a day, while the national death rate has been an average of 91 each day. At present, a total of over 184.86 million Covid-19 vaccine shots have now been administered throughout the country, including more than 166.87 million among the adult population. During the past three days, the nation has continued to see a growing number of new Covid-19 infections, with a record figure of over 20,000 per day being recorded. |
