The October 5 event was in response to the “Joining hands for the poor – Leaving no one behind” movement launched by the Prime Minister, and the appeal by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to provide housing support for poor households in Dien Bien in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954-2024).
Chairman of the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Association in Mongolia Nguyen Huy Tuan presented VND50 million ($2,000) raised by the association to Vietnamese Ambassador Doan Khanh Tam.
In his remarks, Tam thanked the association for their support, noting that this donation demonstrates the fine tradition of “mutual compassion” of the Vietnamese people.
He stressed that with the attention of the Party, the State, and the entire society, local people in Dien Bien province will overcome poverty to have a better life.
President Vo Van Thuong on May 13 attended a ceremony to launch a program to provide housing support to poor households in the northern province of Dien Bien, which aims to build 7,000-8,000 houses for the needy in the locality and some northwestern provinces within one year.
The programme is expected to raise funds worth up to VND400 billion as well as working hours and construction materials from donors.
Addressing the event, President Thuong called on businesses, organizations, collectives, and individuals inside and outside the country to join hands in implementing the program, promoting the mutual support tradition of the Vietnamese people.
He lauded the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the idea, which aims to improve living conditions for local people in Dien Bien, a location attached to the glorious Dien Bien Phu Victory nearly 70 years ago, where local residents are still facing many difficulties.
