What are the results of the business trip?

During the working program in France, the delegation worked with the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF), visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy, and met a number of overseas Vietnamese in France.

Follow-up activities include visiting and working with Bichat Hospital, researching the Rungis wholesale market model, and working with leaders of the French Development Agency (AFD).

During the visit to Nice city to attend the Nice Climate Summit 2023, the delegation met with representatives of the government, and educational, health and cultural agencies of Nice to discuss solutions to more effectively implement signed cooperation proposals in these areas.

At the Summit, the Can Tho city delegation gave a speech on developing green and organic agriculture in Can Tho.

What is the main content of the delegation's working program during the business trip with Nice city, AIMF and AFD?

Working at the Vietnamese Embassy in France, Dinh Toan Thang, Vietnamese ambassador to France, said that Can Tho city's business trip to Nice city in the context of celebrating Vietnam-France 50 years of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership is of great significance.

The Ambassador is ready to act as a bridge between Can Tho city and French partners, making the city one of the key localities in the promotional activities of the Vietnamese Embassy in France.

During the meeting with Pierre Baillet, permanent secretary of AIMF, the two sides agreed that Can Tho will strengthen the connection with members of the association to share results and experiences in implementing activities such as responding to climate change, improving skills, and ability of vulnerable forces (women and children) to respond to the impacts of urbanization and climate change.

The AIMF Permanent Secretary said that he will continue to connect Can Tho with other localities in the association to have more opportunities to cooperate.

With AFD, we had in-depth discussions about the scale, legality, implementation plans, and preferential policies of projects that AFD is interested in, especially the project of processing and consuming agricultural products in the Mekong Delta, the centralized information technology park and Can Tho Cardiovascular Hospital.

What is the main message in the presentation of the Can Tho city delegation at the Nice Climate Summit 2023?

In my presentation at the Summit with the content of developing green and organic agriculture in Can Tho city, I shared Can Tho's practices and experiences in the process of implementing the city's goal of greening agricultural production over the past ten years and orientation to 2030.

The policies and solutions that Can Tho focused on applying are to gradually train farmers in the habit to only produce and use beneficial biological pesticides, aiming to implement the "Strategy for developing clean organic agriculture."

The city diversifies crops, rotating crop varieties such as rice, vegetables, and fruit trees to help improve soil health, protect beneficial ecosystems, increase crop productivity, and ensure product quality and safety.

Can Tho encourages the application of technological advances into practice, gradually shifting to the development of ecological, green agriculture, organic and circular agriculture, and responding to climate change.

The delegation brought to the Summit the message that the Mekong Delta and Can Tho city particularly are centers where it is convenient to develop green, modern agriculture, closely linked to the goal of responding to climate change.

Can Tho and the Mekong Delta hope to cooperate closely with France and the European Union (EU) in implementing the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The city also opens its doors to welcome investors and French people to Can Tho for the development and prosperity of both sides.

What are the potentials for cooperation between Can Tho city and France after the delegation's business trip?

I realized that there were many prospects after the delegation's trip.

French investors expressed special interest in key projects introduced by the city such as the project of processing and consuming agricultural products in the Mekong Delta, the centralized information technology park and Can Tho Cardiovascular Hospital project.

We also received a commitment to cooperate with French partners on cooperation in training human resources, and implementing activities to promote Can Tho city's tourism.

The two sides cooperate to share experience, skills, in-depth training and scientific transfer in prevention, medical examination, treatment and hospital management, support digital transformation, and regularly organize specialized seminars in the medical field.
