Authorized by the Prime Minister, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung granted USD 200.000 to the Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chay Navuth on April 1 morning, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarter. This is support from the Vietnamese government and people to the Cambodian government and people to fight against COVID-19.

The ceremony welcomed representatives from the Government Office, Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Public Security, and Ministry of Finance.

In his remark, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung stressed that Vietnam and Cambodia enjoyed a close neighborly friendship and a tradition of sharing and supporting each other in harsh times. The Vietnamese government and people hoped that the USD 200.000 support would assist the Cambodian government and people to soon stamp out the pandemic, stabilize the situation and continue to recover and developed the economy.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung sent his special thanks to the Cambodian government's attention to the Vietnamese community who are living, working, and studying in Cambodia. He highly appreciated Cambodia's vaccination launching for diplomatic missions, including officials and employees of Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia.

For his part, Ambassador Chay Navuth deeply thanked the Vietnamese government and people for the sincere support in this harsh time, which show invaluable affection, "a friend in need is a friend indeed" spirit, as well as mutual support and sharing between the two countries.

Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam stressed that Vietnam's timely support is an important supplement to Cambodia's effort to control the current COVID-19 community break.

He spoke highly of the Vietnamese government and people's success in dealing with the "dual goal": controlling the pandemic and developing the economy. Thereby, the Cambodian Ambassador, diplomatic staff, and students could stay assured when living, working, and studying in Vietnam.

This is the second time that the Government of Vietnam sent gifts to support the Government of Cambodia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic . Previously, in April 2020, the Government of Vietnam sent the Government of Cambodia medical equipment including protective clothing, medical masks, antibacterial masks, testing system, and COVID test kit with a total value of more than USD 300.000.
