On September 22, the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Can Tho City (Association) held a Congress of delegates for the 2023 - 2028 term at Can Tho University, during which a new Executive Committee was elected.

The Congress also elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Can Tho City for the term 2023 - 2028, including 19 members and 4 honorary members who are Japanese businessmen living and working in Can Tho city. Associate Professor. Dr. Le Viet Dung, former Vice Principal of Can Tho University, was re-elected as President of the Association.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Tong Van Nhin, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, proposed that the Executive Committee of the Association continue to be flexible, proactive, and creative, and diversify the cooperative relationship between partners of Japan and Can Tho city in all fields such as politics, economics, culture, and society.

The Association can also coordinate with the Union of Friendship Organizations of Can Tho city to develop multifaceted cooperation between Japan and the city, continue to enlist the support of non-governmental organizations and Japanese businesses to boost cooperation, peace, solidarity, friendship, calling for investment, contributing to the development of economy, social security, strengthening solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the people of the two countries Vietnam and Japan.

At the Congress, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho city awarded Certificates of Merit to 4 groups for their positive contributions to people-to-people diplomacy during 2018 - 2023.
