According to the National Assembly's online portal, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu shared that with over 600,000 people living in 47 prefectures, the Vietnamese community in Japan is now the second-largest foreign community in the country. With more than 50 active associations, the Vietnamese in Japan not only serves as a vital connection between the two nations but also plays an important role in the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Vu Chi Mai, representing the Consulate General in Fukuoka , reported that in the Kyushu, Okinawa, and Central-Southern Japan regions, there are currently about 110,000 Vietnamese, most of whom are young workers and students. The community remains united, complies with local laws, organizes many homeland-oriented activities, and contributes positively to bilateral relations.

Leaders of associations and members of the Vietnamese community in Japan expressed their commitment to staying updated on Vietnam's developments. They were delighted to see the nation making significant strides in the new era and supporting the necessity of streamlining the political system to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency, propelling Vietnam towards greater achievements.
They also voiced their hopes for increased legal support for overseas Vietnamese, advancements in digital transformation, and enhanced competitiveness for Vietnamese businesses in Japan.
In his remarks, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man expressed his deep appreciation for the contribution of the Vietnamese community in Japan to the development of both countries, particularly as the two nations elevate their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world.
The Chairman shared that despite challenges in 2024, Vietnam's economy remains stable, inflation was under control, and social welfare was assured. GDP growth for the year was estimated at 7%, with all 15 economic-social targets achieved or exceeded. Foreign relations were strengthened, and Vietnam's international reputation and position were elevated. Anti-corruption and waste prevention efforts were prioritized. The country is now actively preparing for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, marking the beginning of a new era of national progress.
He encouraged the community to continue fostering solidarity, supporting one another, and complying with the laws of the host country. He reaffirmed that the consistent policy of the Party and State is to care for the overseas Vietnamese community, considering them an integral part of the Vietnamese nation.
Acknowledging the community's recommendations, Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that he would assign relevant committees to coordinate with ministries and agencies to address difficulties and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Japan to contribute further to their homeland and act as a crucial bridge in promoting the friendship between Vietnam and Japan.
On the same day, in Nagasaki, Chairman Tran Thanh Man, his spouse, and the delegation laid a wreath in memory of the victims of the Nagasaki atomic bombing at the Peace Park and visited the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum.

Sharing his thoughts with Mayor Suzuki Shiro and leaders of the museum and Peace Park, the Chairman reflects on the losses and suffering Nagasaki endured. He emphasized that everyone around the world aspires to live in peace, free from war.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man wrote a profound reflection in the museum's guestbook,; “Vietnam is a peace-loving nation and always hopes that all nations in the world will strive together for peace, prosperity, and mutual development.”
