At the meeting with Roman Zarzycky, Mayor of Plzen, Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam stressed that the traditional friendship and multifaceted collaboration between the two countries have been developing fruitfully in various fields.

This is notably due attention that has been paid to locality-to-locality collaboration. Hai Ba Trung district of Hanoi city, he added, wished to establish a twinning relationship with Plzen, focusing on their strengths in education and training, tourism, and labor.

According to VNS, Plzen city's authorities expressed their interest and desire to promote locality-to-locality cooperation with Vietnam. Zarzycky also said Plzen City attaches great importance to developing relations between the two countries and with Vietnamese localities.

The two sides have a lot of potential for cooperation, especially with the foundation and educational quality of universities in the localities. The Vietnamese community in Plzen also left a good impression for their practical contributions to the host society, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 3,500-strong community accounts for about 40% of the number of foreigners in the city, serving as a bridge between the Czech Republic and Vietnam, he added. Within the framework of the trip, the embassy delegation also met the Vietnamese community in Plzen, lauding their solidarity and efforts in integrating into the host country.
