Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi highly appreciated Vietnam's role as a reliable and valuable partner of the Indian government and people, especially in the fight against Covid-19.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (1972-2022) at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on Jan. 6, 2022.

The ceremony welcomed Phan Van Mai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, Chairman of HCMC People's Committee, Madan Mohan Sethi - Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City. Representatives of Ho Chi Minh City's departments and agencies, the Consulate General, friendship organizations in sine southern provinces and cities, and the Indian community in the city also attended.

Phan Van Mai reviewed the development of the Vietnam - India friendship Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru laid the first groundwork for relations.

The two countries have developed their comprehensive cooperation, regularly organized high-level delegation exchanges, notably National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's visit to India in December 2021.

In 2021, despite the impact of the pandemic, India continues to be named as one of 10 trading partners of Vietnam, with two-way trade turnover reaching nearly USD 11 billion, up nearly 40% year on year.

Over the years, the Indian people have provided Vietnam with invaluable support, such as scholarships for "Indian Technical Economic Cooperation" (ITEC) as well as medical support during the pandemic last year. The Indian community in Ho Chi Minh City has campaigned to donate medical equipment to front-line hospitals, organized dozens of mobile vans carrying essentials to many places in the city.

Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi highly appreciated Vietnam's role as a reliable and valuable partner of the Indian government and people, especially in the fight against Covid-19. Cooperation between the two sides is extended to most important fields such as education, oil, and gas, hydropower, diplomacy, start-ups, space technology, he said.

He expressed his hope that commercial investment from India into Vietnam would grow strongly in many key sectors of both countries such as high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, textiles, tourism, etc. calendar, medical.

Human resource development is an important field that India is willing to support Vietnam in the coming time through the provision of ITEC scholarships as well as the organization of exchange and mentoring sessions with young businesses in Vietnam.

Consul General Madan Mohan Sethi is committed to maintaining friendly relations and good partnerships with all provinces and cities in Vietnam and cooperating in realizing development goals for both countries.
