Vietnam - Reliable Partner Supporting Malaysia in Ensuring Food Security
At the reception, Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, briefed the Ambassador on the city's central location in the Mekong Delta region, its basic characteristics of a multi-functional urban center, with pervasive economic, cultural, and social influence, and its importance as a transportation gateway for the entire region via road, waterway, and air. Can Tho is also well-known for its agriculture, particularly rice, fruits, and seafood, as well as its numerous tourist attractions.
According to Nguyen Ngoc He, in order to create conditions for Can Tho city to develop rapidly and sustainably, soon becoming the heart of the Mekong Delta area, the National Assembly of Vietnam has issued a separate Resolution for Can Tho, which pilots a number of specific processes and policies for the city. In addition, the Vietnamese Prime Minister issued a decision to create a center for linking the production, processing, and consumption of agricultural products in Can Tho City.

The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city further said the city has always strived to foster the relationships between Vietnam and Malaysia. Leaders and residents of Can Tho regard Malaysia and Vietnam as partners and reliable friends in the Asian region. As a result, the city strongly encourages Malaysian enterprises to do research and invest in Can Tho, particularly in areas where the city is seeking investment, such as technology, the processing industry, high-tech agriculture, smart technology, and logistics. In particular, the two sides should strengthen their existing relationship in the field of human resource training.
"We are committed to creating the most favorable conditions for Malaysian businesses to invest in Can Tho city and fully apply the incentive policies of the state and Can Tho city for Malaysian businesses," affirmed He.
