The Embassy of Vietnam in Italy concurrently San Marino and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of San Marino successfully coordinated to organize a cultural event titled "Silk and San Marino" on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Republic of San Marino.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy and San Marino Duong Hai Hung said that this is the first major cultural event of Vietnam held in San Marino as a meaningful activity to celebrate the 15th anniversary. The two countries established diplomatic relations, contributing to promoting cultural exchanges, and enhancing understanding, cooperation, and friendship between the government and people of Vietnam and San Marino.

According to Ambassador Duong Hai Hung, silk is a vivid metaphor for trade and commerce in history, along with the metaphor of the age of 15 in the relationship between the two countries, an age full of young vitality and joy, fresh hope for the future, thereby expressing the desire to further promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, for a brighter future ahead.

For his part, Foreign Minister of San Marino Luca Beccari highlighted the good friendship between the two countries, despite their geographical distance, close cooperation and mutual support at multilateral forums, and highly appreciated the economic potential. Beccari said that the dance and fashion shows have helped the audience gain insight into Vietnamese culture and through their beautiful and creative delicate designs, introduce the Vietnamese people to San Marino.

At the event, through the soft and flexible visual language, the elite artist Linh Nga vividly performed "The dance of the hat" with Italian models.

Veteran and experienced Vietnamese models on the catwalk such as Hong Que, Trang Pham, Kim Dung, Tra My and 12 Italian models from Milan city performed unique ao dai and fashion collections of noted designer Minh Hanh.

Audiences continuously clapped their hands to receive each performance, each luxurious and glamorous product of Vietnamese silk fashion, blending together and imbued with affection for the country and the people of San Marino.

Ambassador Hung on October 20 presented Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc's letter of credentials to Maria Luisa Berti II and Manuel Ciavatta I, Captains Regent of San Marino.

The Captains Regent expressed their deep impressions on the "Silk and San Marino" event held by the Vietnamese Embassy, and highly valued the effective cooperation between the embassy and their Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the successful organization of activities to celebrate the diplomatic ties.

They stressed that these are concrete steps to strengthen the friendly relations between the two nations' people and create momentum for the two sides to continue promoting their cooperation in the coming time.

Foreign Minister Luca Beccari, who also attended the ceremony, highly appreciated the growing position and role of Vietnam in the region and in multilateral forums.

San Marino is one of the smallest countries in the world and only covers 61.5 square kilometers in the region of Emilia Romagna, central Italy.

It has a population of axp. 30,000 and is a member of the United Nations.

Vietnam and the Republic of San Marino established diplomatic relations in 2007 and signed a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement in 2013.

On the same day, the Vietnamese diplomat held working sessions with Foreign Minister Luca Beccari, Minister of Culture Andrea Belluzzi, and Minister of Industry Fabio Righi, during which they introduced the priorities and policies of each country and discussed bilateral cooperation measures.

As part of the activities to celebrate the 15th founding anniversary of the diplomatic relations, the ambassador presented 15 publications from two Vietnamese publishers, including major works on President Ho Chi Minh, history, culture, the country and the people, and the foreign policy of Vietnam, to the Minister of Culture and the National Library of San Marino.

The ambassador also received a gift of 15 books presenting the history, country and people of San Marino.
