In his remarks, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Vietnam Mohammed Ismaeil Dahlwy stressed that both countries are at high risk of climate change and confront many environmental problems.

Regarding the efforts to promote environmental protection in Vietnam, the campaign to plant 1 billion trees nationwide in the 2021-2025 period launched by the Government of Vietnam is similar to the plan to increase vegetation under the framework of the Green Saudi Arabia Initiative. "This [1 billion trees nationwide] campaign will contribute greatly to international efforts in addressing climate change issues," said Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil Dahlwy.

He also praised Vietnam’s targets to cut half of the plastic debris in the ocean by 2025, then 75% by 2030, and reach net zero emissions by 2050. The Saudi Ambassador believed that by dealing with the threats at grassroots levels, the two countries' peoples can contribute to not only promoting environmental protection but also building a good friendship.

"Not only commitments from the Government or other official levels, since I started my term in Vietnam last year, I have also seen a lot of endeavors exerted by Vietnamese people at grassroots levels, trying to raise awareness about pollution and improve their surrounding environment," said Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil Dahlwy about Vietnam’s determination and actions to promote environmental protection.

The Standing Committee member of Ho Chi Minh's Youth Union of Tay Ho District Do Ngoc Linh announced that there are 4 prize winners among more than 100 contestants. The first prize belonged to Nguyen Thu Thao (Tay Ho District) with the most-voted entry. The second winner is Dinh Ngoc Nhi (Tay Ho District).
