Vietnam Welcomes 40% More International Tourists in 10 First Months of 2024

According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in October increased sharply, reaching 1.42 million, an increase of nearly 28% over the same period. In the first 10 months of the year, international visitors to Vietnam reached more than 14.1 million. The country expects to reach its all-year target of welcoming 17-18 million turns of tourists.

According to domestic travel and service companies, the growth reflects that Vietnam is entering the peak season for international visitors, lasting from October to March.

The number of visitors from the Philippines sees the strongest growth in October, with nearly 26,000 arrivals, equivalent to 210% year-on-year. Visitors from Russia, France, Belgium, and China also increased sharply, reaching 150-165% higher compared to the same period last year.

According to the 2022 Statistical Yearbook, Filipino visitors had the highest average spending among the top ten international visitor markets in Vietnam in 2019, with nearly 2,300 USD per visitor. This amount is double the average spending of international visitors.

The Chinese market has the highest growth in 10 months, marking 230% compared to the same period, last year. The number of Chinese visitors reached more than 3 million. Russian, Italian, and Indonesian visitors also see an increase from 140 to 180%.

South Korea remains the largest group of visitors to Vietnam with more than 3.7 million arrivals in 10 months, accounting for 38% of international visitors to Vietnam. In October, the number of South Korean visitors reached 360,000.

Other markets with the largest number of visitors include mainland China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, India, the USA, and Australia.
