Vietnam, Laos Forge Stronger Ties for Comprehensive Cooperation |
According to the plan, in 2025, Vietnam will grant 1,160 scholarships to Lao students to study at the high school, university, and postgraduate levels.
The Ministry of Education and Training is responsible for implementing 511 long-term scholarships and more than 100 short-term scholarships. Granting scholarships not only provides practical support for training but also affirms Vietnam's strong commitment to developing high-quality human resources for Laos.
The year 2025 is of special significance in Vietnam-Laos educational cooperation. This will be the year the two sides will organize a preliminary review of the Project "Improving the Quality and Effectiveness of Vietnam-Laos Cooperation in the field of Education and Human Resource Development for 2021-2030.”

For 2025, the two sides agreed to more rigorously and effectively implement high-level agreements, adopting robust and practical measures to further deepen their political and diplomatic relations, strengthen the defense-security pillar, and vigorously promote economic cooperation.
In recent years, educational cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has achieved many positive results. Currently, more than 10,000 Lao students are studying in Vietnam. Training institutions in Vietnam always pay special attention to Laotian students, applying many creative solutions to support the learning process such as the model of sending students to live with local people, organizing professional capacity enhancement programs, adding specialized Vietnamese language subjects and university preparatory programs.
In particular, the 2024-2025 school year will witness the first batch of Lao high school students graduating from high school in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training will create favorable conditions for them to continue their studies in Vietnam.
Teaching Vietnamese in Laos has also been promoted with Vietnam sending teachers to teach at high schools, Vietnamese language departments of universities, colleges, and Vietnamese language centers. These training programs have contributed significantly to promoting friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Also at the 47th Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two sides agreed to give special priority to education and training, including prioritizing cooperation in developing high-quality human resources, training leaders and managers at all levels, and Lao students in Vietnam.
