Vietnamese canoeists have secured six gold, four silver, and two bronze medals at the 2024 Asian Canoe Sprint Junior & U23 Championships in Thailand after nearly one week of competition.

The Vietnam Canoeing, Rowing and Sailing Federation said among the gold medalists was Olympic qualifier Nguyen Thi Huong. She finished first in the U23 women's single C1 500m event. In the double C2 events, Huong teamed up with Nguyen Thi Hong Thai and Diep Thi Huong and brought home two more golds in the U23 women's double C2 200m and C2 500m events, respectively.

The remaining three golds were obtained by Mac Thi Thanh Thuy and Diep Thi Thuy in the U18 women's double C2 200m and C2 500m races, and Nguyen Thi Hai Anh in the U18 women's single C1 500m.

Taking place in Thailand from June 10 to June 16, the Asian tournament saw the participation of athletes from 18 countries.

The Vietnamese canoeing and rowing team will send two Olympic qualifiers to more international tournaments before heading to the 2024 Paris Olympics scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11.

Rower Pham Thi Hue will compete in the 2024 Southeast Asia Rowing and Canoeing, U19 and U23 Championships in the northern port city of Hai Phong from June 24 to July 7. Meanwhile, canoeist Nguyen Thi Huong will take part in the U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in Bulgaria this July.
