Vietnamese Community in Japan Contributes to Covid-19 Vaccine Fund

Responding to the call and campaign letter of Consul General Vu Binh, representatives of organizations and associations of the Vietnamese community and many Japanese friends and partners were present at the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka and dozens of places in the consular area.
The local government has declared a "state of emergency" with pandemic prevention measures and regulations on social distancing strictly implemented at the Consulate General, both to ensure safety and create favorable conditions for the delegates.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Vu Binh emphasized that vaccines were the most powerful weapon to protect each person, the community, and humanity against current variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
He said that fighting the Covid-19 pandemic was a common task of all humanity. Therefore, it was necessary to clearly define the awareness of "helping others is also helping yourself."
He called on all Vietnamese and other countries to join hands and support Vietnam. He deeply believes in the drastic action of the entire political system, from the top leaders to each ordinary citizen with a single heart "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy." He said he also believes that a country that always upholds international solidarity, helps international friends, deserves the attention, support and help of other countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Japanese Representative Tomioka Tsutomu, president of the Nagasaki - Vietnam Friendship Association expressed his sympathy for the government and people of Vietnam with their current difficulties. He affirmed that he and the Friendship Association in Nagasaki would participate in campaigning to support the vaccine fund to help Vietnam fight the pandemic.
Leaders of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, Kagoshima, and Nagasaki provinces; the Committee for the Vietnamese Association in Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Saga and Okinawa provinces; the Vietnamese Youth and Students Association in Fukuoka and at APU University (Oita province); a number of local organizations in the community; and representatives of the Vietnam - Japan Family Association in the consular area all spoke in turn.
Each statement showed concern and affection for individuals and organizations on behalf of the difficulties and challenges faced by compatriots in the country.
The delegates all affirmed their support and said they will contribute to the campaign to support the vaccine fund.
After the ceremony, all the places conducted fundraising activities. At the Consulate General, the amount of cash collected after the Consul General made an appeal and was 590,000 yen, equivalent to about VND120 million (US$5,265). Along with other places, the total amount raised on Aug. 21, 2021 was 776,000 yen.

The Consulate General and the organizations participating in the campaign are committed to conducting the donation campaign in a transparent manner, periodically reporting publicly on the website of the Consulate General and participating organizations.
The Consulate General and Vietnamese organizations and associations in the region will continue to actively mobilize donations to support the vaccine fund and will wrap up the campaign on Sept. 15, 2021. All money donated by people will be transferred to the vaccine fund for Covid-19 prevention and control.
