Vietnamese Defence Ministry Received USD 1 million from India to Build IT System
The Indian Government provides US$5 million in non-refundable aid to help the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense build an information technology (IT) system. |
Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma on Aug. 11 symbolically presented US$ one million to Deputy Minister of Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien. On behalf of leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, Deputy Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien received the non-refundable aid at a ceremony in Hanoi, reported VNA.
This is the first tranche of the US$ 5 million grant assistance being provided by Government of India to Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense for establishment of an military software park at the Telecommunication University in Nha Trang .
The IT system is set up at the military software park under the center of IT and foreign languages at the university.Chien said the significant assistance it contributes to raising the center's capacity and facilitating high-quality human resources development in Vietnam at large, notably in IT and foreign languages.
The Deputy Minister expressed his belief that the successful implementation of the project will help to enhance bilateral defense and political ties between the two countries in the time ahead.

Indian ambassador Pranay Verma said despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the two countries have worked to strengthen and expand their defense cooperation, and implemented aid and credit packages the India Government has granted to the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.
Vietnam and India have maintained cooperation mechanisms and exchanges in such spheres as training, defense industry and UN peacekeeping operations, and provided mutual support in the pandemic combat, the ambassador said.
The Vietnam – India relations have grown continuously despite the impacts of Covid-19, with security-defence remaining one of the pillars of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The military software park is an important symbol of hi-tech cooperation under the Vietnam - India Defense Partnership and will contribute to capacity building of Vietnam's defense forces in the IT sector.
In its National Digital Transformation Strategy, Vietnam is aiming to raise the share of the digital economy in national GDP to 20% by 2025 and about 30% by 2030.
