Vietnamese Community in Toulouse Looks Towards Fatherland

When visiting Toulouse in southwestern France, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang recently had a meeting with representatives of students and the Vietnamese community. The Ambassador appreciated the solidarity and practical activities of the people here towards their homeland.

Toulouse is the 4th largest city in France, where the Vietnamese community is well integrated into local life. Over the years, activities to maintain Vietnamese traditions have been held regularly, especially during Tet.

Toulouse is also a famous center of university training as well as scientific research in France. Therefore, more Vietnamese students come here to study and contribute to a strong Vietnamese community.

Luong Ba Khanh Lam, head of the Vietnamese Student Association in Toulouse, said that in recent years, the number of Vietnamese students studying and researching in Toulouse city regularly ranks 2nd or 3rd among the total number of Vietnamese students in France.

For 17 years, the Vietnamese Student Association in Toulouse has organized activities to introduce Vietnamese culture and traditions, participating in sports and cultural events. The Vietnamese community is attached, united, and responds to activities towards the homeland.

As a core member of the Vietnamese community in Toulouse, the Vietnamese Student Association here has participated in organizing activities to develop the Vietnamese community, strengthening the image of the country and contributing to the locality.

Khanh Lam said that Vietnamese people in Toulouse are one of the communities that always show the spirit of caring for each other, especially supporting those in need.

People here support the activities of the Student Association to foster the traditional cultural values of the country and the cohesion of the community. Those are the clearest proofs of the warm community spirit of the people here.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang appreciated the solidarity of the Vietnamese community in Toulouse.

As in many other places in France, the patriotism of Vietnamese people is clearly demonstrated through activities of maintaining traditional values, mutual assistance and contributions to the homeland.

Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang suggested that the Association continue to carry out community activities. The Vietnamese community in Toulouse needs to work with overseas Vietnamese in other localities to create a united and strong Vietnamese community in France.

The Ambassador said that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions and supports the Vietnamese community abroad and in Toulouse particularly to stabilize and integrate in the host country, while preserving the Vietnamese culture.

The Ambassador said that Vietnam has faced difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the political and economic situation in the world. However, the Government and people in the country have made efforts to turn Vietnam into a developed industrial country.

This goal requires the efforts of the Party, Government and people, as well as the support and contributions of overseas Vietnamese, including France.

The Ambassador hopes that the Vietnamese community in Toulouse city will be more stable, better integrate, achieve good results in study, research and work, make specific contributions to the host country and the homeland of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the visit and working session of the Embassy's delegation in the south of France, the staff of the Consular Department coordinated with the Vietnamese Student Association in Toulouse to organize consular processing and paperwork sessions for students here.
