Amid the joyous Tet celebrations of Vietnamese people at home and around the world, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main hosted a Community Tet Celebration on the evening of January 12.

The event attracted more than 1,500 participants, including overseas Vietnamese and international friends. Notably, representatives from the government of Hesse, including Minister of Science, Research, Arts, and Culture Timon Gremmels, attended the celebration and participated in the festive atmosphere with the local community.
In his opening speech, Consul General Luu Xuan Dong highlighted Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in 2024, including strong economic growth, expanded international relations, and comprehensive development. The Vietnam-Germany relationship continued to deepen with bilateral trade surpassing $11 billion and numerous cooperative activities.
Relations with southwestern German states, particularly Hesse, were strengthened through over 40 ministerial and local government exchanges, including visits by Hesse Premier Boris Rhein and Minister Timon Gremmels to Vietnam in 2024.

The Consul General expressed gratitude for the community’s contributions, especially in preserving the Vietnamese language, culture, and national identity. The launch of two Vietnamese language classes in Frankfurt, with plans for further expansion, aims to help children speak and write Vietnamese fluently, fostering their connection to their homeland and its cultural values.
He emphasized that Vietnam is entering a new era of national growth, supported by international friends, particularly Germany. The year 2025, marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations will be a significant milestone, paving the way for comprehensive cooperation across various fields with many concrete activities planned.
Minister Timon Gremmels, speaking at the event, expressed his pleasure in attending and conveyed New Year greetings from Hesse Premier Boris Rhein to the Vietnamese community. He shared his strong impression of the warm and meaningful Tet atmosphere upon entering the venue.

The minister highlighted the significance of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties as an opportunity to enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas. He praised Vietnam’s impressive achievements in politics, economics, and society over the past year. Hesse remains committed to supporting Vietnam, especially through cooperative initiatives such as the Vietnam-Germany University project.

On this occasion, the Consulate General held a formal gratitude ceremony for overseas Vietnamese and international friends who have supported its development and activities.
The event featured cultural performances, and food stalls showcasing traditional Vietnamese Tet dishes, and other specialties, adding warmth and a strong sense of national identity to the community Tet celebration.
