Vietnamese Dak Nong, Cambodian Mondulkiri Provinces Foster Friendship

Friendship and people-to-people exchanges between the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong and Cambodia’s Mondulkiri province have been organized over the past years in the spirit of trust and mutual understanding, leaving a deep and lasting impression.

Giving gifts and encouragment to overseas Vietnamese, visiting during Lunar New Year (Tet) and National Day, cultural and artistic exchanges; these are specific and practical activities carried out by the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dak Nong province to cultivate solidarity and friendship between the two provinces of Dak Nong - Mondulkiri.

The delegation of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dak Nong province recently had a business trip to Mondulkiri province.

The delegation organized visits and encouraged disadvantaged overseas Vietnamese families to actively take care of their business, obey the laws of the host country, and not cross the border illegally. A total of 54 gift packages, each worth VND 600.000 (USD 24,40), were sent by the Association to overseas Vietnamese in Mondulkiri province.

Previously, in January 2023, the association also gave 60 gifts, each worth 800.000 VND (USD 32,50), to Vietnamese people in difficulty in Mondukiri province.

Many practical activities have also been implemented by friendship associations in Dak Nong province. Border Guard - the chapter Dak Nong Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has organized many visits and presented gifts to the government, people, and border protection forces of Mondulkiri province on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay New Year, Independence Day of Cambodia, and commemoration of the victory over the genocidal regime of Pol Pot.

During the period of fighting against Covid-19, Dak Nong Border Guard organized the giving of gifts and food, and medical supplies to help Mondulkiri province prevent and strictly control the pandemic situation.

The provincial Border Guard also coordinated with the armed forces and the authorities of two districts of Mondulkiri province to regularly support 12 poor students in the "Elevate children to school" program, each student VND 500.000 (USD 20,34)/month.

The Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Dak Mil district together with departments and committees advised the district People's Committee to carry out visiting activities between the two sides during the two countries’ major celebrations. The Military Command of Dak Nong province sent a working delegation to visit and work with the leaders of the Mondulkiri Military Sub-Region on defense foreign affairs, and at the same time sent a delegation of military medical officers to give gifts, provide medical examinations, and distribute medicine to patients. Orang district.

Dak Nong Provincial Police organized to welcome the delegations of Mondulkiri Provincial Police leaders to visit and work, cultural and artistic exchanges, contributing to improving and preserving the solidarity and friendship between the two forces.

According to Vo Mich, president of the Dak Nong Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association, in the coming time, the association will coordinate closely with departments, branches and organizations to promote education about traditional friendship relations between Vietnam and Cambodia. At the same time, maintain foreign affairs activities at all levels from the province to the grassroots, at border stations to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The association will also coordinate with Dak Nong Community College to implement the “Nurturing the seeds of friendship" program for children of Mondulkiri province studying at Dak Nong Community College.
