During his visit to the US for the United Nations (UN) Summit of the Future and the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79), General Secretary and President To Lam met with Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston on Sunday morning (local time) in New York.

He expressed his delight at reuniting with familiar faces, extended warm regards to the Vietnamese community in the US, and highlighted the increasing success of this community, noting their valuable contributions to the host country and their role in strengthening Vietnam-US relations.
The Vietnamese top leader deeply appreciated the dedication, vision, and practical contributions of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, which reflect their enduring ties to their homeland, regardless of where they reside.
He expressed hope that these intellectuals would continue to unite and contribute to Vietnam's future, moving toward a new era of progress.
On behalf of the group of Vietnamese intellectuals in Houston, Vu Van Le conveyed his joy at meeting General Secretary and President To Lam after many years. He expressed his pride in Vietnam's heroic history and satisfaction with the country's ongoing development.
Generations of Vietnamese intellectuals have never stopped to think of Vietnam and contribute to its prosperous future, he said.
Vu Van Le noted that Vietnamese individuals excel in various fields, including engineering, medicine, and technology. He expressed a desire to make meaningful contributions to the country's development and urged the younger generation of Vietnamese intellectuals in the US and abroad to continue looking toward their homeland for impactful contributions.
On the occasion, the group of Vietnamese intellectuals donated US $10,000 to support localities recently affected by Typhoon Yagi.
