Vietnamese to Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival in Pardubice, Czech Republic

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Quang Hieu celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

On August 28, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Pham Quang Hieu led the delegation to attend the Mid-Autumn Festival program with the Vietnamese community in Pardubice, Czech.

The program was part of the visit to the Czech Republic, attended by Governor of Pardubice Martin Netocky, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic Nguyen Duy Nhien, along with many Vietnamese people and children in Pardubice.

Speaking at the program, Governor Martin expressed his delight at being invited to the event by the community, praising the industrial Vietnamese community.

On this occasion, he thanked the Vietnamese community for their enthusiastic contributions to activities and events in Pardubice, joining hands with the local government and people in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu is appreciated and welcomed the activities organized by the Vietnamese Association in Pardubice to unite overseas Vietnamese, protect the national cultural identity, and contribute to the homeland. At the same time, the Association acts as a bridge, contributing to strengthening the friendship between Vietnam and the Czech Republic .

Especially, during the break out of the Covid-19 pandemic, the community had many practical activities to support local people, which was recognized by the local government.

In 2020, the Pardubice provincial government awarded the medal to the Vietnamese Association in Pardubice and a certificate of credit to 37 Vietnamese individuals for their contributions and timely support to the locality in the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Deputy Minister confirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to, care for and support our compatriots abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, especially in preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural identity and language.

He hopes Vietnamese associations in the Czech Republic would continue what they have done, organize more useful and meaningful activities to connect overseas Vietnamese with their ethnic roots, and at the same time strengthen the relationship between the two countries and the two peoples.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Pham Quang Hieu presented the certificate of merit to the Vietnamese community in Pardubice and gave mid-autumn gifts to overseas youths and local friends. Ambassador Thai Xuan Dung awarded certificates of merit to students with academic achievements.

The Mid-Autumn Festival program is an annual activity organized by the Vietnamese Association in Pardubice. In the two years 2020 and 2021, due to the complicated situation of the pandemic, the Association could not hold face-to-face meetings, but the Association still sent certificates of merit and gifts to children achieving high scores at school.

Although staying thousands of kilometers away from Vietnam, with the attention of the State Committee for Foreign Affairs, the Embassy and Vietnamese associations in the Czech Republic, Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in a very warm and welcoming vibe in Pardubice, with colorful star lights , Mid-Autumn cakes with bold flavors of home and special musical performances by overseas youths.

The program contributes to nurturing and arousing the love of the homeland, pride in the cultural identity and traditions of the nation, and awakening the bonds with the roots in the young generation of overseas Vietnamese.

About 2,000 Vietnamese people are living in Pardubice. The community unites and organizes many activities to welcome the traditional New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival, community sports…

In September 2020, the Vietnamese Association of Pardubice province was awarded a Medal by the Governor of Pardubice Martin Netocky to recognize the positive and timely contributions to supporting the local government and people in the prevention of the Covid -19 pandemic. In addition, 37 Vietnamese individuals and families were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Governor.
