The visits, which will last from Dec. 12-19, are being made at the invitations of Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Park Byeong-seug, Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of Representatives) of India Om Birla, and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) of India Venkaiah Naidu.
Hue is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai; Secretary-General of the NA and Head of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha; and Head of the NA Standing Committee’s Board for Deputy Affairs and President of the Vietnam-RoK Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thanh.
Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung; Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Tran Hong Ha; Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; and Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung also joined the delegation.
Chairman Hue’s upcoming official visit to the RoK plays an important role in elevating the Vietnam-RoK relations, and coveys a message on the determination of the countries’ senior leaders in resuming visits by high-ranking officials and people-to-people exchange, said Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Nguyen Vu Tung during an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency.
The bilateral relations have thrived in a fast and effective manner across all spheres, Tung said, adding that the countries maintained contacts with high-ranking officials via both in-person and virtual meetings amid Covid-19. Diplomatic activities reflecting mutual understanding and trust between the countries have been strengthened.
The RoK is the second major labor market of Vietnam and the two sides renewed a memorandum of understanding on the issue this year.
It is also a significant source of tourists for Vietnam and the tourism cooperation is projected to recover in the coming time.
Over 60 Vietnamese localities inked cooperation agreements with their RoK counterparts. The countries’ successful cooperation has offered a new international position for both nations, the diplomat said.
During his trip, the NA Chairman will attend an inaugural ceremony of the new headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK.

Meanwhile, 2021 marks the fifth year of the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership. The two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties next year.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, high-ranking leaders of the two countries have maintained bilateral meetings, both online and in-person.
Two-way trade has reached nearly USD 11 billion in the first ten months of this year.
Vietnam has been a strategic pillar of India’s Act East policy. Both nations even signed the strategic partnership agreement on July 6, 2007, which was the first strategic agreement India had signed with another country in the Southeast Asian Region.
