The application was created by a team of information technology students including Vo Quoc Thang (talented bachelor course in 2017), Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Pham Tran Hien Dung and Huynh Bao Di (advanced programs course in 2018. The QQueue app entered the top 10 and won the consolation prize of the Creative Idea Contest 2020 (CIC 2020) organized by the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

An application meets requirements amid a covid-19 pandemic

In the situation of the Covid-19 outbreak in early 2020, the team came up with the idea of building an application to serve medical examination and treatment, in particular, reducing patient waiting time.

"Hospitals in Vietnam become overloaded at sensitive times. Making patients gather and wait too long is also the cause of the uncontrollable spread of Covid-19. Therefore, we wondered about limiting difficulties and conducted research immediately", Bich Van said.

“The strength of our major helps us make a difference in technology, integrate technology and modern trends, artificial intelligence into this application. However, the biggest challenge is to integrate it into the existing systems in hospitals", she continued.

Currently, the team is working and cooperating with a hospital in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City to better understand the process and upgrade the application in the best way.

They want to work towards personalizing each patient's medical examination process so as to minimize hospital congestion, to focus on the threading system, and to use time estimation algorithms to minimize waiting time for patients.

An application owns outstanding functionality

The application allows patients to search for hospitals and get numbers in advance through their smartphones. They are able to see how many hospitals and clinics are and how many people are in line. Based on this information, the patient can arrange their schedule and travel to the hospital at a suitable time.

“In order to use, the user needs to have a separate account linked to the medical chain and will present the code provided by this application. The application is equipped in Vietnamese with an easy-to-see and easy-to-understand interface, which is suitable for everyone ”, Hien Dung shared.

“The reminder, notification when it is coming to visit and estimate travel route and attendance time based on artificial intelligence technology will help people use their waiting time effectively. They can do many other things while waiting and it's not necessary to be in the hospital all their time”, said Bao Di.

In addition, reducing direct medical examination and treatment procedures, shortening waiting times will greatly assist the elderly in moving, filling in papers, medical records.

In the future, the team will integrate online payment with e-wallets, integrate with pharmacies to open home delivery of drugs. In fact, the application can also be applied to other places that also need to queue for numbers such as banks, government offices, administrative agencies.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh, CFO, manager of the start-up program SwissEP Vietnam, a judge of this contest, commented: “This is considered a useful application solving part of difficulties in queuing and various procedures. Specifically, "numbering" at home will minimize waiting time. However, how to integrate the application's solution into the hospital's operation chain is not an easy thing. It requires the team to do a lot of research in the future ”.
