Visit The Majestic Sand Path In The Middle Of Thanh Lan Beach
The sand path is about 200 m from Thanh Lan Island and 4 km from Co To by sea. According to Tran Van Nam, the tour guide on Thanh Lan, this path only appears about four or eight times a month, depending on the waves. "Not everyone from Thanh Lan can come here, so we call it the path of grace," Nam said.
In the middle of the blue sea, the sand path emerges with the shape of a giant humpback whale about 300 m long and 20 m wide. The sand here is golden, smooth, and gorgeous on both sides.

39 – year – old Dang Trang, a tourist from Hanoi, and her family have been to Co To at the beginning of July and stayed there for three days. After exploring the island, they book a tour of Thanh Lan. “To reach the sand path, we had to start at 7:30 am and arrived there by canoe about 10 minutes,” Trang said, and added that the 30-minute experience on the sand path was “the best experience in the whole journey”.
After visiting the sand path, Trang continued to explore other parts of the small island, watching the seagulls, swimming, and fishing. These activities are offered to tourists when they come to Thanh Lan at a reasonable price. “If tourists just want to explore the road and then go to Goat Island to catch snails, the tour will cost about VND400.000 (US$16.89) per person,” Tran Van Nam said.

In June 2023, the Co To island district welcomed 105,000 guests, and the number of stays reached over 200,000, equal to the same period in 2019 but the length of stay was longer when on average each visitor to the island stayed for more than two nights. In July, the island is expected to welcome 70,000 guests.
Thanh Lan island, belonging to Thanh Lan commune, is the largest island in Co To district with an area of 27 km2, about four km from the big Co To island. On the island, about 1,200 people are living mainly by fishing.
The largest and most beautiful beach on the island is Ba Chau, about 4 km from the headquarters of Thanh Lan Commune People's Committee. The beach has a 1.5 km- long sandy beach, an ideal place for swimming and camping.
To the right of Ba Chau beach, there is also a rocky beach with many strange shapes for visitors to freely check in "virtual life".

The farthest beach is Hai Quan in village 3. To get here, people will pass through a 7 km long road with one side being the blue sea, the other is the primeval forest. On the way to Hai Quan Beach, tourists can stay at Vung Tron Beach. To get to the beach, they must walk through a winding trail nearly 400 meters through the forest.
The pristine beach will appear after they cross the forest. The relaxing space here is enough for everyone to forget the feeling of fatigue quickly.

The weather on Coto Island and Thanh Lan Island is consistent all year round. From May to August, the ocean color is at its best, providing great opportunities for outdoor activities like swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and so on. Be wary of high temperatures over 30 degree Celsius. If possible, avoid traveling over the weekend to sidestep the many Vietnamese tourists. Also be aware of typhoon season, from late June to late September. Please check the weather forecast before traveling.
From September to December local fishermen go off-shore for night squid fishing. A great chance to enjoy an authentic, hands-on fishing experience!
