When tourists arrive at Tu Mo Rong, they will be able to immerse themselves in the greens of the forests, discover the majestic waterfalls, and try the famous Ngoc Linh ginseng.

Tu Mo Rong is the gathering place of more than 30,000 people, of which mainly the Xo Dang ethnic group, which accounts for over 95% of the population here. Xo Dang people have lived on this land for many generations and have many unique, diverse, and rich cultures with their own characteristics. The culture of the Xo Dang people is prominent in the folk visual arts with traditional communal houses and musical instruments such as gongs, silk, ting ning, and Klong Put with folk songs and dances.

At present, the Xo Dang people in Tu Mo Rong maintain their year-round festival events, from life cycle rituals, and agricultural rituals to festivals related to the existence and development of the community.

If Mang Den in Kon Plong district is famous for its cool air all year round and interesting check-in points, Tu Mo Rong district still retains its wilderness, which is suitable for tourists who like to explore new lands, such as learning the local culture - especially the life of the Xo Dang people in the North Central Highlands.

At the foot of the Ngoc Linh mountain range are the villages of the Xo Dang ethnic group that still preserve many cultural identities. The terraced rice fields, the small villages lying on the hillside, and the wonderful views of nature are the significant things that make the charm of this destination.

There are wonderful natural sights for tourists to see such as the multi-tiered waterfall in Te Xang commune, Siu Puong waterfall, Dak Psi hydroelectric lake, terraced fields in Mang Ri commune and Dak Na commune, and Ba Khen Lake in Van Xuoi commune.

Besides, there are other interesting experiences such as visiting the ginseng and medicinal gardens on the high mountains and learning about the revolutionary history of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee base in Mang Ri.

Tu Mo Rong also has Ngoc Linh peak which is 2,500m high. It is a mountain stretching on the Truong Son range and located on the administrative boundaries of three provinces Kon Tum - Quang Nam - Quang Ngai. The pristine, mysterious, and dangerous beauty is very ideal for visitors to explore and conquer this majestic peak.

Tu Mo Rong has a complex topography, divided by rivers, streams, and high mountains. There are also many terraced rice fields here.

According to Van Hoa newspaper, in the coming time, Tu Mo Rong district will orient the development of two main tourism products, which are eco-tourism combined with the experience of medicinal gardens and enjoying the culinary culture of the Xo Dang people.

Unique specialties of Kon Tum

Kon Tum leaf salad (Goi La Kon Tum)

As the name suggests, this dish has only one dish but is covered with a tray of leaves. From familiar vegetables such as cabbage leaves, perilla leaves, fig leaves, apricot leaves, and basil leaves, to strange-tasting leaves such as mango leaves, guava leaves, sour leaves, five paprika, along with many kinds of special leaves in the highlands of the Central Highlands.

The side dishes with the leaves are boiled pork belly, a few slices of carp, boiled shrimp, and pork skin. The people here most often make porcupine grilled with charcoal, porcupine bone soup cooked with cornstarch, and porcupine wrapped in dong leaves.
