Visit Ket Mountain – A Wonderful Cloud-Hunting Destination In Vietnam
Ket Mountain in Tinh Bien district, southern province of An Giang, was formerly deserted where some narrow paths were made by locals. Over the past few years, Ket Mountain has been familiar with tourists who love seeking adventure and challenging activities. It was called Ket (Parrot) because there is a big rock that looks like the head of a parrot on the top of the mountain.
The reason the mountain is named "Ket" is because halfway up the mountain, at an altitude of about 100m, there is a protruding rock that looks like the peck of a parrot. Photo: Tran Hoang Van Hung |
The path to the top of the mountain is uncultivated because it is a developing area, so it does not attract that many pedestrians, compared to the other mountains. The scenery of the forest mountain still looks primitive, and it is very beautiful and unspoiled.
From the entrance of Ket Mountain, tourists will be amazed at the marvelous natural scenery. The trail from the foot of the mountain to the top is about 600m long, built with stairs, and has a safe corridor. The road to conquering Ket Mountain is quite long and difficult, but in return, visitors can enjoy the natural scenery. Strolling up each step, visitors will see large, strange rocks and majestic architectural works here.

Ket Mountain has up to 20 religious sites. It also has abundant caves, so in the past, two Buddhas and 12 other people came here to lead their religious lives. This, in turn, attracts quite a few pilgrims, especially Buddhist followers.
Huynh Long Temple was built on a giant rock next to a large yard. Legend has it that this is where Phat Thy Tay An (Buddha Master of Western Peace) and his followers meditated. Visitors will be surprised by the beauty and fresh air of the temple as if they were lost in a fairyland.

The Ket mine-shaped rock block is located at an altitude of more than a hundred meters, from the foot of the mountain and visitors will walk about 20 minutes to the place.
The most ideal place to hunt clouds on Ket Mountain is Bach Tuong Peak, where the space is large and airy. Locals often choose this place as a destination for their early morning climbing trip. People have built many steps to the top to worship the Ong Ket shrine and many small temples around. Near the foot of the mountain, there are three monuments that tourists visit and worship, namely Thoi Son communal house, Thoi Son Pagoda, Phuoc Dien Pagoda, and other famous places.

Despite the hot weather, trees on the mountain peak are still green. This makes tourists forget their trouble and try their best to climb onto the 200-square-meter rock called San Tien (Fairy Yard) where Huynh Phu So, the Buddha Master of Western Peace, and gods used to talk with each other.
Strolling around big rocks and a staircase surrounded by iron barriers, visitors will reach the fairy well on the peak of Ket Mountain. Its water shines under the sunlight and is so clean, cool, and sweet that tourists can try drinking from it.

An ideal attraction for tourists when coming to Ket Mountain is U Minh Palace. This is the place to worship the King of Hell – who is said to be the lord of the underworld. The road to U Minh Palace is quite dangerous, following the cliffs along the abyss, and tourists have to walk carefully through the darkness to the heart of the mountain.
