VUFO honours three Russian officials in HCM City

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) presented the “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” insignias to three Russian officials in Ho Chi Minh City in recognition of their significant contributions to traditional friendship between the two countries’ people.

Presenting the insignia to the ambassador at a ceremony in HCM City on August 12, VUFO President Nguyen Phuong Nga said the medals aim to honour the officials’ remarkable contributions over the past years.

The recipients were Russian Consul General Aleksei Vladimirovich Popov, Counsellor at the Russian Consulate General Maria Georgieva Mizonova, and Director of the Russia Centre in HCM City Natalia Borisovna Zolkina.

Chairman of the HCM City's Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association Hoang Minh Nhan lauded the honourees for working closely with the Ho Chi Minh Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) and the city's Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association to effectively hold cultural and arts activities and exchange delegations, which have contributed to raising mutual understanding between the people of the two nations.

A range of important external activities between Vietnam and Russia have been held in HCM City in recent years, including visits by Russian Prime Minister A. Medvedev in 2015 and Foreign Minister S.V. Lavrov in 2019, the 20th meeting of the Vietnam - Russia Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic and Scientific-Technological Cooperation, and working trips by the governors of Saint Petersburg and Moscow.

Particularly, Consul General Aleksei Vladimirovich Popov has actively supported the development of relations between provinces and cities in the south of Vietnam with Russian localities; successfully organized working visits to HCM City by Governor of Saint-Petersburg and Moscow as well as many delegations of Russian localities.

Nhan expressed his hope that the awarded officials will make further contributions to bilateral friendship and partnership.

For his part, Popov expressed his pleasure to receive the insignia, the most notable reward of the VUFO. He also spoke highly of people-to-people exchanges held by VUFO and its chapters, which deepen bilateral ties at all levels.

The Russian Consul General wishes to continue to strengthen mutual understanding, create a favorable environment to develop deeply the relationship between Vietnam and Russia across all levels.

Earlier this month, the central Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association also presented insignias to ten officials of the Russian Embassy in Hanoi.

The honour was presented to Minister Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Vietnam Bublikov Vadim Vladimirovich; Counselors of the embassy Tanakov Sergey Lvovich and Nesterov Ivan Sergeevich; First Secretary of the embassy Maslov Alexandr Anatolyevich; Third Secretary Nilov Roman Stanislavovich; Russian Defense Attaché to Vietnam Boitsov Roman Valeryevich; Russian Trade Representative Kharinov Vyacheslav Nikolaevich; Acting Director of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Hanoi Vishnitskaya Elena Azatova; Director’s Assistant of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture Tokarev Yaroslav Vladimirovich; and Chief Representative of Russia’s TASS news agency Denisovich Yuri Alexandrovich./.
