VUFO-Indian Embassy Celebrates 50 Years of Strong Diplomatic Relations

VUFO and the Indian embassy are planning several events to celebrate the 50th anniversary between the two countries.

Vice President - General Secretary of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) Phan Anh Son received Ambassador of the Republic of India to Vietnam Pranay Verma in Hanoi on Dec. 7.

They met to discuss a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India (January 7, 1972 - January 7, 2022).

Phan Anh Son said VUFO highly appreciated the cooperation with India, not only on the occasion of the coming 50th anniversary but also in the past and future.

The Indian Ambassador thanked VUFO for cooperation and support in past friendship activities, and highly appreciated VUFO's initiative for the upcoming celebration.

VUFO and the Indian embassy affirmed their willingness to cooperate in holding activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary. The two sides agreed on hosting events to introduce and promote culture, enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, step up communication activities, connect experts in many fields, and contribute to the development the cooperative and friendly bilateral relations.

Vietnam and India's relation originates from cultural and religious exchanges from over 2000 years ago. The two countries' friendship and was built and nurtured by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the 20th century. The two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2007.

Vietnam and India's relations have developed in many aspects over the past 50 years. The two countries regularly exchange high-level delegations, maintain good cooperation in many fields such as security, economy, trade, science, and technology. Bilateral trade turnover remains at a positive level, reaching US$ 10.68 billion in 2020 and nearly 11 billion in the first 10 months of 2021.
