VUFO, Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee Enhance People-to-People Diplomacy

The delegation was led by Vice Chairman of the Lao National Assembly and Chairman of the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity Sommad Pholsena working in Vietnam on October 4-9.
According to President Nguyen Phuong Nga, late Lao President Souphanouvong, who is also chairman of Itsala Front of Laos and President of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, had attended the congress to establish Vietnam's World Peace Protection Committee (currently the Vietnam Peace Committee) on November 19, 1950.
Together with President Ho Chi Minh, President Souphanouvong, who spent years living, studying and working in Vietnam, laid the foundation for the special relations between Vietnam and Laos.
She delighted that current generations of the presidiums of the two committees are continuing that tradition. The two sides maintain practical and effective exchanges of delegations, coordination and support in multilateral forums.
President Nga affirmed that VUFO will create all possible conditions for the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association, the Vietnam Peace Committee and other member organisations to constantly strengthen ties with people's organizations. Laos; bilateral friendship exchanges, continue to closely coordinate with Lao friends in multilateral people-to-people cooperation mechanisms.

Nga suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should coordinate to organize many exchange and cooperation activities to effectively fulfill their role as a cooperation bridge between the two countries in all fields. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen traditional education for the people of the two countries, especially the young generation, to have a deep understanding of the rare and pure friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee Sommad Pholsena said he chose Vietnam as the first country to visit after receiving a new assignment.
The visit took place on the occasion of the Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2022, the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and the 45th year of the signing of their Treaty for Amity and Cooperation. The task of the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee is to build and nurture the people-to-people relations between the two nations.
On this occasion, Pholsena invited VUFO President to visit Laos at an appropriate time and share experiences on people-to-people diplomacy.

Nga said that VUFO is willing to share its operational experience with the Lao Peace and Solidarity Committee. She believes that the Committee will successfully complete its tasks, promote cooperation on people-to-people channels, bring into play the role and strength of Laos, and further strengthen Laos' position in international people's forums. .
On the morning of October 5, the Lao delegationhad paid a floral tribute and visited the Mausoleum to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh.
During the visit and work in Vietnam, the delegation will visit a number of revolutionary relics, Uncle Ho's Temple, Peace Committee relic in the revolutionary base area of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces.
