At the meeting, President Phan Anh Son thanked KOVECA for the letter of condolence on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. He acknowledged the efforts of Chairman Kwon Sung-taek and KOVECA in fostering Vietnam-South Korea relations in the field of people-to-people relations and in helping Vietnamese families in difficult circumstances.

According to President Phan Anh Son, Vietnam and South Korea are two nations with many similarities in history, culture, personality, and national traditions. There is a large population of Vietnamese people in South Korea and vice versa. South Korea is a developed country, he said especially in the fields of innovation and technology. Its experience and success in economic development are valuable lessons for Vietnam.

Also, the host affirmed that there is still much room for cooperation between the two sides and hoped that KOVECA, with its network, will connect the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations with universities, research institutes, and large enterprises in South Korea. The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations is ready to coordinate with KOVECA and the above units to organize sessions to exchange, share visions, models, and development orientations of the South Korean government; lessons on economic development based on leading enterprises.

On August 6 in Hanoi, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son received Kwon Sung-taek.

KOVECA Chairman Kwon Sung-taek said that KOVECA is planning to implement the above initiatives and that we will achieve good results with the efforts of both sides.

He believed that Vietnam lost a bright star when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away, adding that South Korean writer Cho Chul-hyeon had released the book "General Secretary of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong" on the occasion of the General Secretary's 80th birthday. This is a book about the 80 years of the General Secretary's life, published in Korean language and available in South Korea. It will soon be published in Vietnamese in Vietnam.

KOVECA has connected with author Cho Chul-hyeon to promote the book. This August, KOVECA is expected to hold a book launch in South Korea and organize a working group, including author Cho Chul-hyeon, to visit Vietnam to learn about the legacy of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Korea-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Association (KOVECA) was established on August 8, 2013 to enhance and promote economic and cultural development between the two countries. At the same time, based on the foundation of trust and mutual understanding, KOVECA will promote cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, society, education, youth spiritual life... contributing to bringing the relationship between the two countries to a new level.
