The dialogue was attended by Ambassador of Vietnam to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh, heads of the Embassy’s departments, the Embassy’s staff, representatives of General Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand, the Business Association of Thai-Vietnam, local Vietnamese Associations in different areas, the Overseas Students Association, the Student Association, businesses, intellectuals and the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Thailand.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh underlined the care of the Embassy for the Vietnamese community in Thailand via specific, practical supporting activities that have been carried out and sharing of multi-dimensional information to the community regarding the prevention of Covid-19 in Thailand and Vietnam.
The ambassador affirmed that the state and Community Party leaders and the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand cared about the health, life and work of the Vietnamese community in Thailand to overcome the pandemic, based on the principles of mutual support and “no one is left behind.”

The embassy staff shared with the participants updates about the general situation of the Vietnamese community in Thailand and useful information on the prevention of Covid-19. In addition, the Embassy shared with the participants its plans to mobilize support so Vietnamese in Thailand could have access to Covid vaccines as soon as possible and information on the repatriation and chartered flights from Thailand to Vietnam, the embassy’s citizen protection work, and Thailand’s immigration regulations.
Since early 2021, the Embassy of Vietnam has been collaborating with authorities from both countries to bring home roughly 700 Vietnamese citizens on chartered and repatriation flights. In 2020, about 1,500 citizens were also carried to Vietnam on four repatriation and two chartered flights.
The embassy had been offering medicines, food and necessities to vulnerable Vietnamese people infected with the virus or stranded by the pandemic in Thailand. Further, it has been able to secure about 100 free injections so far.
On behalf of the General Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand, the President of the association Trinh Cao Son offered updates on the Vietnamese communities in different areas in Thailand. The president also thanked the embassy for transferring US$ 8,000 from Vietnam’s Covid-19 Vaccine Fund to the Vietnamese community in Thailand.
Facing the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnamese in Thailand thinks about the homeland, aiming to support each other and responding positively and actively to the policies of the Embassy of Vietnam in Thailand. Representatives of the Vietnamese associations in Thai provinces exchanged information about the Covid situations in their localities, the Vietnamese who were stranded and their associations’ activities to support those in need.
Representatives of the Vietnamese Overseas Students Associations and different Student’s Associations also gave an update on their activities and contributed ideas to link Vietnamese students in Thailand. In addition, Vietnamese businesses and businessmen in Thailand had been carrying out practical activities to support the communities.
The webinar helped to connect and tighten the bond in the Vietnamese community in Thailand. It was an opportunity to share perspectives and solutions to support each other from the viewpoints of different organizations and associations of Vietnamese who were living, studying and working in Thailand facing the Covid-19 pandemic. Through the webinar, participants continued to offer practical solutions to support those heavily affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the Vietnamese community in Thailand.
