The Ministry of Health affirmed that all vaccines licensed and brought to Vietnam for use are safe and effective. Here are 6 vaccines that have been licensed in Vietnam:

Covid-19 vaccine AstraZeneca

The Covid-19 vaccine, produced by AstraZeneca Corporation, has been licensed for emergency use in 181 countries and territories and has been included in the list of emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO). To date, this vaccine has been used in 119 countries and territories with a total of about 980 million doses used.

Vietnam has received a total of more than 8.7 million doses after 15 vaccine deliveries. This vaccine has been administered in Vietnam since March and is currently the most used vaccine in Vietnam.

Gam-COVID-Vac vaccine (also known as Sputnik V)

The Gam-COVID-Vac vaccine produced by the Gamaleya Research Institute, Russia has been licensed for use in 70 countries and territories. To date, this vaccine has been used in 49 countries with a total of about 85 million doses used.

In mid-March, Vietnam received 2,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine from the Government of the Russian Federation and used it for nearly 900 people. On August 1, Vietnam received 10,000 more doses of Sputnik V vaccine donated by the Government of the Russian Federation.

Sinopharm's Vero Cell Vaccine

Vero Cell vaccine is developed by Sinopharm and manufactured by Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co., Ltd., China. This vaccine has been licensed for use in 64 countries and territories. At the same time, it has also been included in the WHO emergency use list. To date, this vaccine is in use in 59 countries with about 800 million doses used.

Vietnam has received 500,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by the Chinese Government and has been vaccinating since July. Quang Ninh is the first locality that has completed 88,100 doses of the first dose and will administer the second dose from 4/8. Particularly, Binh Lieu and Quang Ninh have reached vaccination coverage for 50% of the district's population.

Pfizer/BioNTech's Comirnaty Vaccine

Pfizer/BioNTech's vaccines have been licensed for use in 111 countries and territories and are listed for emergency use by WHO. To date, this vaccine has been used in 97 countries with about 850 million doses administered.

Vietnam has received a total of 746,460 doses of Pfizer vaccine and is implementing vaccination.

Spikevax vaccine (also known as Moderna vaccine)

The Spikevax vaccine manufactured by Moderna has been licensed for use in 64 countries and territories and is listed by WHO as an emergency use. To date, this vaccine has been used in 63 countries with about 340 million doses.

To date, Vietnam has received more than 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine donated by the US Government through Covax Facility and is implementing vaccination.

Janssen vaccine

Janssen vaccine manufactured by Janssen Pharmaceutica NV (Belgium) and Janssen Biologics B.V (Netherlands) is licensed for use in 56 countries and territories and has been included in the WHO emergency use list. To date, this vaccine has been used in 34 countries with about 60 million doses used.

The vaccine manufactured by Janssen has been approved by the Ministry of Health for conditional use for urgent needs in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, Vietnam has not received this vaccine.
