Women Can be Successful Leaders, Say Youth
The Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Plan International Vietnam recently organised the closing ceremony of a social media campaign titled “Thanh nien chuan – Noi khong voi dinh kien gioi” (Standard youth - Say no to gender stereotypes), in Hanoi, Nhan Dan Online reported Sunday.

The communication campaign “Thanh nien chuan – Noi khong voi dinh kien gioi” is implemented in four phases, starting from January to November 2022.
The four phases are all aimed at eliminating gender stereotypes in doing housework, shouldering financial responsibilities in the family, choosing a career and leadership roles between men and women in society.
According to statistics of the Organizing Committee, after 10 months of implementation, there were 31,000 followers of the fan page "Thanh nien chuan".
The music video (MV) “Viec nho to ta cung lo” (Small or big things, we all do) performed by rapper Rica Nguyen Viet Hung and singer Lam Bao Ngoc – with the theme song of the social media campaign, received great attention from the audience, with 280,000 hits and interactions. The series of sitcoms on the platforms recorded 20 thousand 5-star reviews, and more than 180,000 hits and interactions on fan pages.
Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, said that the closing ceremony of the campaign is an opportunity to review the results of activities during the four phases, further deepening the messages on gender equality and the spirit of saying no to gender stereotypes.
Along with that, the organising board also wishes to convey the spirit of response to the national action month on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention and response in 2022, thereby promoting and creating opportunities for women and girls, to exercise gender equality rights, gradually eliminating violence against these subjects.

Responding to the activities of the campaign, Plan International Vietnam launched the challenge "I am Thanh Nien Chuan" in the form of a hashtag challenge on the Tiktok platform from September 15.
After more than a month of launching, the challenge has attracted TikTok users to create hundreds of videos to convey a positive and equal gender perspective, in line with the message "Standard Youth - Say no to gender stereotypes".
The hashtag #ThanhNienChuan on Tiktok has reached 67.2 million views, the hashtag #noikhongvoidinhkiengioi has reached 48.9 million, showing that the campaign is conveying positive messages that are responded to by young people.
Sharing in the opening, Country Director of Plan International in Vietnam, Migena Shulla, expressed her happiness and pride to witness the brilliant results of the campaign as well as gender equality work in Vietnam, when these prejudices were once the story of her own life.
“I am really pleased to see the growing number of Standard Youth who say no to gender stereotypes. And I am sure that this number will multiply even more. This work is both amazing and fun - it's about communicating equality through music, dancing, short films, character stories, or social media challenges," she said.

As a financially independent woman, the CEO of a company, Nguyen Huyen Phuong, a speaker at the event, said that women as leaders are being supported and favored more during this time, thanks to the positive signals of the media campaigns on gender equality.
“I think that prejudices about women's majors or career choices in society will gradually be eliminated. Accordingly, the burdens of the wife and husband in the family will be removed, shared and exchanged for the other half," Phuong shared.
As one of the youths who responded enthusiastically to the campaign, Nguyen Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the Youth Union Club of Dien Luc (Electric Power) University hopes that the members of the Youth Union Club will carry out the meaningful message of the campaign, changing stereotypes about job assignment, prejudice that this profession is only suitable for women or this profession is only suitable for men.
