France sets new daily record with almost 10,000 COVID-19 cases
The national health agency, Santé Publique France, revealed on Thursday afternoon that 9,843 new COVID-19 infections had been confirmed over the previous 24 hours, its highest daily tally since the beginning of the pandemic, Euro News reported.
The number of hospitalizations has also risen with more than 2,200 COVID-19 patients admitted to hospital over the past seven days, including 371 in intensive care units.
Nineteen new deaths have also been recorded, bringing the total number of fatalities to 30,813 — the seventh-highest death toll in the world and second only to Italy in the European Union.
France also now has the EU's second-highest 14-day incidence rate with 135.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Spain, however, remains the most inflicted case-wise with a 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 infections reaching 263.2 per 100,000.
A meeting of ministers and health officials is to be held on Friday to discuss measures to tackle the spread of SARS-CoV- 2 — the virus that causes COVID-19.
France unveiled a €100 billion stimulus package earlier this month to kickstart the economy and curb unemployment.
China hands over five missing youths from Arunachal Pradesh to Indian Army
Five youths, who went missing from Arunachal Pradesh last week, were returned to Indian authorities by China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) on Saturday, the Indian Army confirmed.
As reported by Indian Express, all the five individuals were handed over to the Indian side at Kibitu after all formalities and sent to quarantine for 14-days as per the coronavirus protocol, the Army said.
“The Indian Army took over all five individuals at Kibitu on 12 September, 2020, after completing all the formalities. Individuals will now be quarantined for 14 days as per Covid-19 protocol and will thereafter be handed over to their family members,” a statement released by the Army read.
Besides this, it also recalled previous instances wherein youths have inadvertently strayed to the other side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and safely returned.
On Tuesday, the Army had received a communication from China about the whereabouts of the five youths who went missing from Upper Subansiri district. The PLA had conveyed that the youths were found by them across the Sino-Indian border.

The communication from PLA had been announced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, who hails from Arunachal Pradesh.
“The Chinese PLA has confirmed to the Indian Army to hand over the youths from Arunachal Pradesh to our side. The handing over is likely to take place anytime tomorrow i.e. 12th September 2020 at a designated location,” he announced on Friday.
However, Tapir Gao, MP from East Arunachal, had cited local reports to allege the five were “abducted” by the PLA. On Monday, China brushed off concerns over the whereabouts of the five youths and needled India, saying it has never recognised Arunachal Pradesh which it claims is part of south Tibet.
The development also came amid a border standoff along the LAC. After two-and-half hours of bilateral talks between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, the two sides on Thursday reached a five-point agreement to disengage and de-escalate the situation along the border.

XAU on the cusp of a triangle breakout to 2,000
The world’s precious metal has been trading a lower high and a lower low pattern for the past two days. A descending trendline continues to limit the upside. This week's barrier at 1,966 prematurely paused the well-orchestrated mission to hit highs above $2,000 per ounce.
Rejection at 1,966 sent XAU/USD spiraling into the support between 1,940 -1,935. According to the Relative Strength Index (RSI), gold is likely to continue with Monday's downtrend. If support at 1,935 is shattered, the precious metal could plunge to the primary support range between 1,905 and 1,910.

The 4-hour chart illustrates the formation of a falling triangle pattern. A breakout above this, the triangle would invalidate the above described bearish scenario. Besides, the price is still trading above the 50 Simple Moving Average. The moving average has functioned as not only worked support in the past but also an inflection point leading to more upside movement in the past. The triangle breakout targets $2,000 per ounce in the near term. Further upside movement could extend as far as 2,100 (new yearly highs), according to FX Street.
