The situation in Ukraine is becoming more fierce, seriously affecting the lives and safety of people. The number of Vietnamese people fleeing to neighboring countries, mainly Poland and Romania, is increasing every day, followed by Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, where they can rely on the Vietnamese community.

Young Vietnamese volunteers prepare relief supplies, soak in the snow at the border gate, and go to train stations to welcome people evacuated from Ukraine. They have warmed people's hearts amid the cold weather of Europe. They are second-and third-generation Vietnamese students in Eastern European countries.

Nguyen Thi Viet Nga is a young entrepreneur among many Vietnamese in Poland volunteering to support compatriots from Ukraine. Nga said that when she learned that Vietnamese people from Ukraine wanted help when coming to Poland, she arranged accommodation for them. She also posted a message on social networks calling for the community to support blankets to ensure their health in cold weather.

Volunteers in the capital Warsaw also set up a taxi team ready 24/7 to help people.

Officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Poland assist people in evacuation procedures and ensure the registration list for those who wish to return to Vietnam on relief flights.

The Vietnamese Embassy and community have welcomed and supported hundreds of overseas Vietnamese fleeing from Ukraine to Hungary. Some groups and individuals in the community called for donations of charity goods for the border gates.

After the EU opened the border for refugees from Ukraine, Keleti station in the east of Budapest, became a stopover for many Vietnamese citizens who evacuated via Moldova and Romania to continue on to Hungary.

Officials and staff of the Embassy, the Vietnamese Student Association in Hungary, and Budapest people welcomed people taking the train from the border to Budapest and provided them food and water.

They encouraged them before sending them to temporary shelters or sent those with enough documents to board ships to continue to other EU countries.

Hung, a second-year student at Corvinus University Budapest, one of the students who volunteered at the station, expressed his pleasure at helping his compatriots from Ukraine.

He helped arrange accommodation and meals, a guide to buy tickets, and helped them find train stations for them to continue their journey.

Uyen, a fourth-year medical student in Kharkov, Ukraine, who has just evacuated to Hungary for a few days, also volunteered to help other people in the same situation.

For many days, the young staff of the Vietnamese Embassy regularly contacted the local authorities, learned the regulations, answered the phone to guide people, and received and processed information from the people. They handled paper work and provided a whole range of general support and encouragement.

The Vietnamese Student Union in Romania has about 50 members, and the team supporting the evacuation are students from Bucharest. The students were assigned the task of helping people at the station.

PhD student Tran Van Luc has assisted the Vietnamese with accommodation and helped people to buy train tickets to Hungary.

Luc said: "The supporting activities are from the policy of the Student Union in regular activities and responding to the call of the Embassy and associations. Students are young people. We are happy to join hands in volunteer activity only to support Vietnamese pandt also other nationalities to evacuate from Ukraine."
