12th India-Vietnam Friendship Festival Kicks Off in Vinh Phuc

On the evening of December 18 in Vinh Phuc province, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the Vietnam-India Friendship Association (VIFA), and the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization (AIPSO) jointly held the opening ceremony of the 12th Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival.

Delivering the opening speech, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of VUFO, emphasized that the Vietnam-India relationship is built on a solid foundation established thousands of years ago when Buddhism was introduced to Vietnam from India. Vietnam and India have always been close friends, sharing common cultural and historical values.

VUFO Vice President highlighted that since the two countries officially established their strategic partnership in July 2007, VUFO, VIFA, and AIPSO have initiated and organized the Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival in India and Vietnam.

Throughout 11 festivals, with diverse activities held in different localities of both countries, the event has attracted a wide range of participants, providing opportunities for people from both nations to deepen their understanding of each other.

On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to AIPSO and VIFA for their successful collaboration with VUFO in organizing the festivals over the past 17 years. These festivals have contributed significantly to nurturing the “solidarity, friendship, and development” that serves as the theme for this 12th edition.

Harchand Singh, General Secretary of AIPSO and head of the Indian delegation attending the festival, affirmed that the 12th Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival reaffirms the historical, cultural, and revolutionary ties binding India and Vietnam, as well as the collaborative efforts of VUFO, VIFA, and AIPSO.

Through these festivals, the peoples of Vietnam and India have celebrated their shared heritage, connecting through art, music, and literature. The event underscores the importance of cultural diplomacy in bringing the people of both countries closer together, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

Phung Thi Kim Nga, Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Vinh Phuc Province, stated that hosting the 12th Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival in Vinh Phuc provides an opportunity for the Indian delegation to gain deeper insights into the land and people of the province, thereby enhancing friendly exchanges.

She expressed her belief that the festival’s activities would leave a lasting impression of Vinh Phuc as a land rich in cultural identity, with numerous historical relics, renowned scenic spots, significant socio-economic development potential, and its hospitable and friendly people.
